This is probably more for the younger types but I love rock and lately started getting into the real heavy crazy metal stuff. I find it enhances my experience in AH with blistering guitar riffs and barbaric screaming in the background. :devil
Whats funny is I wouldn't listen to this stuff out in my car but my comp is steadily acquiring a library of speed, death, and black metal...all for mainly playing in the backround while flying in AH.
Anyways the band I've got on repeat lately is The Price of Existence by All Shall Perish. Anyone into them? If you like brutal, melt your face metal, check these guys out! http://www.amazon.com/Price-Existence-All-Shall-Perish/dp/B000G75AEI (http://www.amazon.com/Price-Existence-All-Shall-Perish/dp/B000G75AEI)

I love older metal, but this newer stuff, not really new its been going on for years now, is in my opinion...horrid.
It all sounds the same. The sing from yer scrote vocals, the random "riffs" that have no real substance, the shrieking..oh yes the shrieking.

At least with the 80's Metal, you have people who can actually sing, and understand most lyrics. 90's and now- forget it, it's more about gutteral sounds and screams.

Anymore.... a guy can pinch a loaf into a bowl and some far out in left field oddball will jam to it. The current RnB or "rap" is testimony to that. Likewise, much of the "metal" today is but a shadow of what it used to be. The industrial speed metal (at least in American form) is as mind numbing as trying to figure out the U.S. tax system.
While I wont fault anyone for listening to what they like because it all is a matter of opinion and personal taste, but I will fault them for not recognizing and respecting the pioneers of their genre.

That is nothing..... there are actually a couple of folks that enjoy hearing me sing.
My voice has been known to break glass..... folks will do anything to get out of the building. Including going through the windows.

I can attest to that! Damn Margaritas!!
Anyhow all I hear is raging blast beats, ultra-detuned guitars, and throaty screaming which is pretty much typical of today's "metal".. Now, there's some good death and doom metal that have these attributes and do them well.. But this stuff hear is nothing close to that.. All I can imagine here is guys with "Tapout" shirts, lots of stenciled tattoos, and too many piercings.. Too each his own, however..
Oh, the joys of commercialized music...

I can't stand it when some dude is trying to sound like he is puking and crapping in his pants at the same time and they attempt to call it "metal".

Cookie Monster metal sux.

Now when someone says "metal" I automatically think Metallica (not death magnetic metallica), or Ozzy. Modern music is crap for the most part. Even bands that I really enjoy such as Skynyrd or Bon Jovi, their new albums suck.

That's probably what every older generation has said about newer music since the beginning of time. Basically you learn what you like in your teens/20s and then say everything new sucks, until you die. But I agree, modern music is crap for the most part. :)
