Title: Bullet Velocities
Post by: Saxman on July 25, 2010, 10:31:10 PM
Does anyone know how the game handles bullet velocity? Does the game maintain a constant bullet speed throughout the weapon's range, or does the bullet slow down over time as it would IRL?

it slows down and has a drop rate per bullet or cannon round

I know about the drop, I'm just concerned about the bullet velocities.

Does anyone know what speed the various rounds are traveling at a given range?

IE, how fast is a round from the Hispano 20mm traveling at 200yds, 400yds, 600yds, etc. Or for my purposes, the Browning .50cal?

Did you really need to start another thread?

I'm looking for the info, but I can tell you from discussions with Hitech and Pyro, the bullet velocities change over distance. The trajectory is also effected by air density so you will have to factor that in as well.

I'm pretty positive they do.  Here's Pyro commenting on data from Tony Williams on the topic back in 2001:
