Title: How about just one Ki-67 pilot joins me?
Post by: Brooke on July 25, 2010, 11:55:55 PM
I'm looking for just one more pilot out there to join me flying Ki-67's in the upcoming Philippine Phandango scenario.

The group I'm in (762nd Kokutai) is just one pilot short of full.

I'm hoping of all the pilots in Aces High, there is one more out there that will fly with me.

I think it will be a blast.  The Ki-67 is an excellent bomber, and we will have targets at land and sea, and some torpedo bombing (which is great fun in scenarios).

Here is the link to a bit of information on the scenario, including dates and times and a link to registration:

Also, there are still positions open overall on the Japanese side for N1K2, Ki-84, and Ki-61 pilots.

Thought about it.

Then I recalled the last scenario......

Glad I took the time to think about it.......

Maybe you ought to take the time to review the writeup which addresses some of the things which might have caused you to recall the time to think about the last time you recalled the last scenario...

My favorite is v7  "adjusted numbers of aircraft for smaller registration"

Kinky.

Let's just see how this one goes, shall we?

That is if the logs and/or forums are released afterwords, of course.....

I thought about asking VonMessa to reconsider.

Then I recalled the last scenario......

Glad I took the time to think about it.......  ;) [Note for the humor impaired -- this is a joke.  I'd be happy to have VonMessa or any other pilot join me in Ki-67's.  I think it will be great fun.]

I'm onboard with this idea of kindly riddeling Messy until he relents and joins us.  Where was he when the first writups got released and the previously-fearless leaders began crying?  It's arguable v7 was implemented because there were some groups of players very unhappy (and threatening to boycott)about the writup this time due to it being more limiting to side CO's decisions and "flexibility" with deploying forces on the field of battle this scenario.

Messa, if I had a dime everytime I gave up on something that had a potential of being really unpleasant but possibley really fantastic, I'd be a lot richer and still unmarried.  You know you want to team up, get drunk and here us all complain about our wives and exes while cruising at 20k for 3 hours again.

I think that if the Freebird$ had not been assigned KI-67s in a few of the previous FSO's and we didn't have that experience to remember, we would join, but.... More than likely, no. KI-67 is the REAL flying coffin.  :cry :cry :cry

Any bomber that isn't protected or flies into overwhelming force is going to have problems, B-17's, B-24's, and Lancasters included (as I can tell you from much direct experience in scenarios).

Take Ju 88's, TBM's, and B5N's as examples.  None of those are nearly as good as the Ki-67 in survivability.  The Ki-67 is much faster and has better defensive guns.  Also, the TBM and B5N don't even have formations.  Yet I've flown in scenario missions where I had an excellent time fighting my way to target along with enough escorts that I didn't die, plastered the target, and got back home.

I've also flown in scenario missions in B-17's at 25k among 30 other B-17's with escort and not made it to target because we just got overwhelmed.

It's not the bomber, but the situation.  The Ki-67 is an excellent bomber.

Here is a pictorial where I, alone in my formation of Ki-67's, got attacked by two F4U-4's and survived to tell the tale:

Here's what would be great.

Instead of posts from folks who aren't going to fly Ki-67's with me and want to tell me so --

how about if just *one* person out of the many 100's who fly in Aces High would say, "Sure, Brooke -- I'll fly Ki-67's with you".

I know there is one of you out there.  :aok

I would ask that all bomber pilots and bomber squads take a close look here. Brooke is working hard to present a really good time with this scenario. He has one slot in his group, we have 2 KI-67 bomber groups and are 4 pilots short. Help him fill his slot and bring 3  - or more squaddies with you. It will be fun.

I'll do it.

Been flying the Ki-67 alot lately.

I'm becoming a sort of a 999000 in a Ki flying format.

Diving face first into a furball and coming out the other side capping fighters that tail me looking for an easy kill.

I can't promise you pinpoint bombing accuracy, but I can promise good cover against fighters and decent bombing accuracy.

Sandwhich,

You could be a torpedo plane which would make bombing out of the question.

I'm fine with bombing as long as it's not against a turning ship.

And what makes you think that I'd be better at torpedo bombing than regular bombing?

The fine training you will receive from Brooke, of course.  :rock

He is a master running torpedo sorties. This scenario may call for both skills and we can, and will, adapt both methods proficiently!   :aok  Many allied dogs will die at the bottom of the sea. The Emperor has ordained it!

Sandwich,
Registration received and you can now enter the Axis Forum!!  Report into 762 Kokutai Thread!!   :rock

And Welcome!  :salute

EDIT: I forgot, You may not see all of them, General and such, as I can't give access to those. Fencer51 and Brooke control those, I believe.

Thank you, Sandwich; and thank you, Big-mo!  <S>  :aok

Now, here are a couple stand-up folks -- true heroes, joining the ranks of the samurai of the air! :)

We will be doing plenty of fighting, bombing, and torpedoing.  It will be glorious!  Long will the names "Sandwich" and "Big-mo" be remembered in the sagas.

Also, years from now, when these two folks are sitting around the fireside with grandkids on their knees, and the grandkids ask, "What did you do in the great Philippine Phandango battle," Sandwich and Big-mo won't have to say, "Well . . . I sat around giving reasons why I didn't want to fly."  ;)

If any US infidels wish to shoot at your KI - 67's  they will have to go through my group of Hayates!   The Gale shall sweep you aside and your bases will lay in ruins.

Folks -- that is fighting spirit from Bruv!

The Emperor isn't going to get any messages saying that "we are holding our position." We're not holding anything. Let the Americans do that. We are advancing constantly and we're not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy. We're going to hold onto him by the nose and we're going to kick him in the tail. :)
