I have the same problem but only when I HOST the RW session. If your stuck with dial-up like me you might try having someone else host and see if that makes a difference.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I have a dsl connect. Its not a connection problem, it does it even when i do the RW test thing. when i try to record my own voice using rw, it plays back static. but when i use windoz sound recorder, it sounds normal.

Some sound cards are not compatible with RW.  They have a pretty comprehensive list available at www.resounding.com (http://www.resounding.com)  (maybe www.rogerwilco.com (http://www.rogerwilco.com)  too).  I would also try changing RW from DirectSound to WAV recording or vice-versa.

(If you have DX 8 or 8a this needs to be set on WAV recording or else you will get errors when exiting AH.)
