Title: Got a new and interesting error
Post by: kotrenin on July 27, 2010, 01:09:58 PM
I can not, all of a sudden, start up AHII. I am receiving this error.

I downloaded the new version and patch of AH and also the High res texture pack yesterday. It worked fine yesterday, now today no-go.

The shortcut path in that icon is bad. That's the one on your quick launch bar right? Easy way is to delete it and create a new shortcut icon.

It means the game executable cannot find its resources to run with.  A number of things can cause this.

The most common is when someone tries to manually create a shortcut on the desktop and they accidently move the entire executable to the desktop.

Another one that is a popular cause of this is using restore to rollback changes in the OS.  This actually requires the game to be re-installed in order to get back to normal.

In all cases, removing the desktop ICON, then installing the full version over the top of the current installation will cure the problems and not cause any loss of settings/configs.

That's the one.  I didn't even think about it when I did it. I had updated the OS and as usual my computer started acting like a schizo-affective manic depresive on crack... so i did a restore.

oops.

Thanks,
