It started as this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azE7bifgzUg
And then I started getting emails and texts from friends who saw the story on their local news stations
Then AOL.com had it their home page in their top 11 stories!
Then CNN Headline News aired it
And...well, wow! One of the kids who was in the interview was still at the hospital today. R2-D2 and I went up to visit and showed him on the laptop he was now famous!
Made his day!

If I had the money, your new computer would already be on it's way.

Ha Ha....me too! R2 has a new Asus netbook as a brain...and then there's the usual wear n tear from all the driving around we do
-

This is the proof I was looking for. All these people I hang out with on AH with are not just a bunch of internet geeks...
They are compassionate too.
It is an honor to have you in the community LePaul. Great work on both the bot, and helping those kids.

LePaul for AH Community Member of the Year!

nice work lepaul

You guys are most kind, thank you!
I'm still getting emails from people saying where they heard about it.
Feel free to join Paul's R2-D2 page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pauls-R2-D2/433737735192)
Its great to re-connect with my Aces High friends again.
Ghost...you'd be amazed how quick R2-D2 brings out the inner geek in people! I've had many a guy or gal burst out with some sort of Star Wars line.
And yes, there is a second R2 in the works. Since R2 doesn't generate any income, the shoe-string budget does what it can. I'm currently working on actuating the 'cpu arm' which R2 uses to plug into computer interfaces in the movies. Making one R2 do what 8 movie props...and a LOT of CGI effects did is quite an engineering challenge.
Hope to be back into the game come winter time. I've been following all the updates and it sounds like the game just continues to improve.

LePaul, Do you think Lucas might be interested in getting into the humanitarian aspect of this? Maybe pitch the idea?
-
Outstanding LePaul.
-
Nice LePaul you sir have ALL the respect in the world from me.Nice to do this for the kids :salute
-
I suggest a donation by us as members to help LePaul get back into the game a little quicker.
Anyone got a few spare parts to toss into a system for him?
-
Very nice!!!!!

LePaul - that is very cool what you are doing for those kids. I've had two nieces with leukemia and have seen what a heartbreak is is to watch those kids suffer. Luckily they are both in remission. Anything people like you do to put a smile on their face defintely makes the angels smile!
