The Philippine Phandango scenario needs two Fleet Captains (one for each side) to control the fleets during ship-to-ship combat and to lend defense during air attacks.
There must be some folks out there who are up for some naval combat. Come join the fun! :aok

Scenarios always have pilots to step up.
Here we have a scenario with two Fleet Captain spots.
Who is going to step forward to represent the Navy and its proud traditions?
Where is our virtual Nimitz, Halsey, Spruance, Mitscher?
Where is our virtual Yamamoto, Nagano, Nagumo, Takagi?
Step forth, commanders of the sea! :aok

quick hijack... that third pic i have seen from Super Nintendo's PTO game. Which BB was it a picture of brooke?
-
Looks like the USS Washington BB-56.
-
Yep, she's the Washington (after my own state and one of the few or maybe only BB's that got into a BB vs. BB battle in WWII, where she sunk some opponents.) The pic is from the naval battle at Guadalcanal. Good spot, vatiAH! :aok

How can you tell?

Chart house above the Conning tower marks her as a North Carolina Class. No walkway halfway up the firecontrol tower makes her the Washington. The North Carolina had a 2nd walkway installed during her post shake down refit, so she never saw combat without it. It was a feature that made them easy to tell apart.

Also, that pic of the Washington firing is from the battle off Guadalcanal, firing on the Kirishima.

Don't forget Oldendorf "Crossing the T" with the "old" Battleships in Surigao Straights. West Virginia, California, Tennessee, Maryland, Pennsylvania, etc vs the Fuso and others coming up the slot. West Virginia scored with her first salvo at 25000 yards on the Fuso. Last big gun, BB vs BB fight ever.

Ah yes. Excellent point.

Will Be There :aok

As a Fleet Captain? If so, excellent. If as a pilot, that is also good, of course. <S>

Folks I don't think the ship in the above firing picture is the Washington I believe it is a Pittsburgh class cruiser reason being the Washington had 4 5/38 turrets on each side of the bridge the ship in the picture has only 3 5/54 turrets 1 on each side and 1 forward of the bridge and only 1 radar firing control fore and aft. The stern is also squared off as most cruisers had in WWII. the BB's were more rounded. This link will show exactly what I am talking about www.navsource.org .

All those photos are in the ships archive.

Garboon,
There are 3 different ships pictured there. The middle pic is the USS Wichita CA-45 heavy cruiser.
