Everybody needs to start policing themselves when it comes to adding Youtube, or other links. People are being suspended left and right from the boards, because of either the song lyrics, video content, or the COMMENTS BELOW!!!!!
Save yourself from the Skuzzy hammer. Check, check, check before you post a link.
Don't be the one that makes the posting of links banned.
Have a nice day :aok

It is not me you have to worry about. It is the forum posting rules being violated that should be the focus of concern.
When you post a link to a remote site, it is your responsibility to make sure the site/link does not violate the forum posting rules.
-
My only question on the comments is...If someone posts a link to a youtube video, after reading the comments and everything is fine, then someone posts a comment that violates the rules, how are we to know? The comments update as soon as someone comments, correct?
Thanks

I have a question, skuzzy. And a dumb question too but i really do not know if it can be done. If i was to post something that violates one the rules, can you design a program that determines it brakes one of the rules and stops the post of being posted?
-
or, as the op posted, think, then type, then think again and if you're sure that you're okay with what it says go for it. But if the banhammer falls on you accept it and don't whine. I don't think Sir Skuzz has it in him to make it a personal thing. If I posted everything I typed I'd be a Parolee but my postcount would be radioactive.

Agree, happened to me a few times.

I guess the best way to go is to 'steal' the video and post it to your own account temporarily. Doesnt seem right to do that but you can forbid comments that way.
-
Just don't post links anymore.

Just don't post links anymore.
That's the conclusion I've come to. It's near impossible to find anything approaching civil in the comments in YouTube or Liveleak anymore.
-
I don't post youtube or any other links to sites that allow comments anymore. You can't control what folks say after you link.
Would be easy to get someone banned you didn't like. If they post a youtube link simply go there and post some garbage and they'll be gone.
Linking to news sites that cover everything from a to z including politics and your done too.
Don't leave yourself open.

Youtube shows the age of the comments, so it it easy enough to take that in consideration. No one is going to get suspended from this board if the comment made was done after the link was posted here.
The link will get erased, per the forum rules, but the poster will not get suspended.

i have a simple solution though its not really simple or might not be possible. If we can get boards that you can imbed the videos in, that was solve the whole comment issue as the only way to see or comment on it would be to go onto youtube and find the video as imbedded videos dont show the comments.

Yeah that would be good, not sure if the software used for this board has that feature though.

thats why i said it might not be possible... if its available but not just used it would be simple from what ive heard other administrators say to enable, but if the board we use now doesnt have it, then AH would have to switch to a new board system that does.

Gonna test something, doubt it will work. Youtube vids give embed codes, just want to see if they actually work on the BBS.
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lpp9pgGgR0U&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lpp9pgGgR0U&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
EDIT
Nope. lol
