Title: Gliders towed by C47's And Lanc's
Post by: BulletVI on July 30, 2010, 12:59:52 PM

Hows this Gliders towed in mass each carrying 20 troops  and troop barrack's in town so when you are under attack the highest ranking player at that field can send in troops to town to defend from enemy troop's and it doesn't matter if town buildings are up or down if 20 troops reach map room then town taken. But here's the catch you take the town now you have to take it airfield too!!!!

You know do it like they did in 1843-45

Just a thought lets elaborate and throw more idea's in to this :)   :salute

I'm really confused what you're asking but
Quote
the highest ranking player at that field can send in troops
is enough to tell me that this idea is off to a bad start.

No room for this in AH.

Waco Glider and Horsa Glider both carried troops, which the tow plane (C-47) does too. So why bring two sets of troops to a town for 2 pilots. This also means you cannot fly the C-47, with the glider, on the deck. So you have to fly at altitude in a goon, with a glider. If you make it to town, the Glider must circle around the town lose speed and altitude. After all of this, do you really think you will be allowed to get the 10 troops in the town?

A part from all of that, it is a good idea.

What we really need is a Ju 52.

He's asking about having glider born drunks in addition to the drunks we already have.  He also thinks it would be a good idea to have a "troop barrack" in the town that can be used to send AI troops to help defend against enemy troops.  He proposes that, similiar to how command is given on a CV, that the player that has a high rank can then "take control" of the troops in the barracks and send them out to defend the bunker in town.

At least that's what I got out of it.

I like the idea of having AI troops defend the bunker but not the other stuff.

Sorry meant 1943-45 was typing whilst talking to sis about her new boyfriend :)

Basically the idea is we can then do mass airborne invasions and such :)

Make the battle for the towns more lengthy and a bit more historical :)
OH and once the town is captured the airfield has to be captured seperatly from the town.
So if you decide to go for the field first players can send troops from town to hamper you and retake it  and such :)

I'm all for gliders...if you can only tow them from the rear-most base, stay in that sector until you get them to 30,000' and then release them.  Make the pilot glide across the map, undectable to radar, until he gets to the enemy town.

Now that sounds like fun.  :D

I read somewhere the Mexicans could put 20 drunks with pistols in a hot air balloon.

Unfortunately, that field evaluation ended in tragedy due to the Mexican custom of shooting into the air during drunken binges.

Considering the vox already fill up with calls of "Mine!, Mine, Mine!" when a goon is spotted... I can only imagine what a goon towing a "target" would do to people.  I dont think HTC needs the liability of people having heart attacks when they are spotted.
