I'm just wondering if there is a duel throttle control that I can buy and use for my X52 stick? I just love the P-38, especially in a vertical fight, and would love to be able to control it's 2 engines separately.
So, is there a duel throttle for the X52, or would it be best for me to buy a new stick with duel throttle alltogether (In which case, what would be a good one)?

I don't think you'll see much advantage of dual throttles in the p38.
Granted on the surface it looks like you would.
But in actual flying if you throttle the inside engine down more than 75% you lose too much Energy, and a 25% drop really isn't enough to help it come around in most turns.
There are a few specific situations where you might be able to make it work for you.
But as a general rule, its not worth the hassle.
However if I was serious about trying dual throttle I'd be looking at something like the Saitek Aviator that has split throttles built in. Should only run you about 40$ at best buy.

If you're interested in a dual throttle, here is the list of where it will help you;
1. Throttling down one engine to compensate for a missing wing, you can fly straight and level with this.
2. Great hammerheads, you can really squeeze every last bit of energy out of the plane and can reverse very quickly.
3. Immersion (AKAK quote).
4. Spin recovery.
5. Making great 'donuts' on the runway.
6. Out of plane, last ditch efforts (cut one engine and roll it hard).
It will not help you turn tighter, not in anyway what so ever. I have a dual throttle I made and I'm not even using it as it gets me into more trouble than its worth. That said, I'm going to buy myself the Thrustmaster Warthog when it comes out... I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess.

Not quite as cool, but you can also just take three buttons on the joystick or throttle and map them to Select Engine1, Select Engine2, Select Both. I'm using a CH setup here and the three buttons on the front of the throttle are very handy for this.

If you really wanted to do this with a single throttle you could also do it with the AH "modes".
Assuming Mode 1 is planes, 2 is GV's, you could set a button to switch you into mode 3 and 4.
In both modes copy mode 1, then set throttle to engine 1 in mode 1, in mode 2 to engine 2 instead of throttle.
That way would give you all 3 options with a push of the button.
Somewhat like Soulyss method except that you could actually use the throttle for control.

That sounds pretty neat! I would just have to find a some buttons I'm not using.

Saitek makes a throttle quadrant that you can use with the X52,it has 3 analog levers that you can configure to dual engine control.
I have 1 myself,but dont have it mapped for dual throttles... :o

I have an x-52 and at one time set the thumb slider on the throttle to act as duel throttle. It works (just don't forget you have to calibrate it too) but as previously stated I didn't find it to be a significant advantage when flying a 38.

The Saitek 3 lever control is pretty neat. Each lever has a button press on one end of it's travel so you could go past max rpm and turn wep on for example or go past minimum throttle and shut the engine down.
