Post by: guncrasher on August 01, 2010, 12:33:58 AM
Anybody know which website is good to test my firewall?  I use nod32 suite, but been wanting to know how good i have it set up.

reason i ask is because of this:  I get a lot of these messages about one every 4 seconds.  wondering why.

Easiest way to test the firewall is light it on fire and see how long it takes to burn through.

Here is the one I have used in the past http://www.auditmypc.com/

Your firewall is blocking your universal plug and play service. Disable the service and you'll get rid of the message. It's a security risk anyway.

I used the leaktest.com (btw it is from 2005) and my firewall allowed the connection to proceed. I used auditymypc and nothing could get in.  so I guess one of my settings lets things out but not in.

but now my sound is messed up.  I can use the stereo and quadraphonic with no issues, but when I switch to surround sound I get a weird underwater like sound coming from the speakers.  trying removing sound card and reinstalling it, nothing.  I have a g35headset and all sound is normal in surround sound (it is usb).  only having problems with speakers.  any ideas?

I had blocked universal plug and play service and problem didnt go away with firewall, so i put it back on.

sound card is sb x-fi xtreme audio, speakers are logitech 540 5.1.

What do you mean by blocking? Did you stop and disable the service? Blocking the service creates exactly that kind of stuff in the log.

I disabled it in services program and rebooted.

I'd say just piss off 4chan. Get out the stopwatch. When the first pizza arrives at your door, stop the clock.

Does that make sense on any level?  :headscratch:

not really but it gave me the idea to order pizza, the guy that delivered, heard the sound and mentioned the same thing happened to him and it was a bad sound card, i replaced it, sound now fixed.

:rofl

It'd make more sense if you were 4chan commoners or had a raid launched upon you.
