Title: Vehicle spawn upgrade

How about a spawn distance slider... in addition to choosing a spawn point direction (like we currently do) a slider would control the distance away from your base that you would spawn.

I would prefer a spawn road but this would be a step in that direction.

I dont see why not. As long as the maximum distance stays the same as they are now, it would be a good way to break up spawn campers.

with this u can simply choose to spawn up a few hundred yards away from what would be a camped spawn.

I think it's one of the better ideas for preventing spawn camping.

But how will the GVers boost their score!?

If the minimum and maximum distances remain the same the only adjustment is something in between, that would not break up the smart spawn campers.

If the intention is to allow spawning much closer to an enemy base than what is currently coded into the maps, no thanks.

One argument against this is that currently spawn points for vehicles have to be placed on a "grass" tile (ie. no obstructions).  At least, when I was working on a terrain a year or so ago that was required.  Implementing something like this would require doing something else (other than simply specifying a grass tile) to ensure that the vehicle spawns in a viable location.  Folks would be screaming bloody murder if their perked tank spawned into a crevasse that flipped the tank trying to get out of, for example.

An ambush is when someone is driving along and you make them go boom when they dont expect it.  A spawn camp is when 10 guys fire a round at the lone guy spawning in before his motor started.  Ambushes are cool... the point is to prevent the latter.

How about a 'fire for effect' spawn perk option?

A wide barrage of artillery wipes out any spawn campers within x yards radius from the spawn point ( depending on perkage spent ), thus allowing you to spawn safely.

so.. for 1000 yards barrage, say.. 50 perks

2000 yards, 100 perks

3000 yards 200 perks..

Might add a little risk to getting up there real close...

I think thats the point of it, and if is it im ok with it, is the best idea anti-campers in the spawn point and even in the field, u can choice a place between the actual spawn point and the field to spawn.

i dont think the idea wants to allow people to spawn even closer, but to allow poeple to spawn from a further points (closer to the base they left)...maybe some poeple would not mind driving an additional mile or 2 to get to there destination if it means they dont have to start up in somebodys gunsight.

Exactly.  In a real tank fight, someone is going to drive within range of the enemy, not just magically appear in a situation where they are surrounded.
I think there are a few folks here who cringe at the though of someone being able to shoot back. 

i dont think the idea wants to allow people to spawn even closer, but to allow poeple to spawn from a further points (closer to the base they left)...maybe some poeple would not mind driving an additional mile or 2 to get to there destination if it means they dont have to start up in somebodys gunsight.

prepatory arty strike...hmmm...not alltogether a bad idea...perked maybe...have to be someone in the sending base's tower....maybe a cool-down time in between uses........oh hell just set a second spawn not to far from the forward and give us GV'ers some mobile arty....add a spotting thingie to the reece GV's (that would make them much more useful and needed).....just some random thoughts ...

to add to my previous.....i was thinkin of something along the old battlefield 2 model...set of arty tubes(destroyable)..the need for someone to spot the splash ....the more i think about this the more important the light recce vehicles get...  imagine a FO in a jeep he could spot rounds...call air on target...many possibilities...things would have to be thought thru i grant you...but personally I would like to see the ground and the attack units have more in the game....
now please you furball guys...I know..this was a fighter sim game...
It still is, and one of the best there is, hands down, but it has also evolved, and grown...I have played WW2 online and while its pretty nice I can easily see the future of this game surpassing it in quality and quantity on all fronts.....man can't you just imagine it all...!!

time will tell...but I would ask that everyone embrace the greatness of this sim...cuz it's there...

Sure Im talking about between your field, from the one that are you spawning out and your spawn point.

I wouldn't go that far out. Spawn camping is the same concept as camping the hanger on the base. Would it happen in real life? No, but it can be compared to setting up an ambush. Face it, in real life you wouldn't continuously up a new tank if you knew NME was sitting there.

Since the spawn is basically a warp closer to an NME base, spawn camping can be compared to setting up an ambush or checkpoint, just that the NME GVs appear out of thin air in front of you, instead of drive up to your ambush. Only way to effectively stop it would be to put an end to spawnpoints, which would pretty much end GV portion of the game.

I think what HTC needs to do is evaluate the spwns whereas to spawnpoints come within target range of each other and ensure the spawn points face each other. There are quite a few where NME can spawn to where a Knit is pointing east and Rook or Bish spawn in behind them at less than 2K facing the rear of the Knit tanks (and visa versa). In other wors, two spawn points converging should be facing each pther, not both facing the same way. My 2 cents.... Next!  :salute

I think that vulching and spawn camping are basicly the same thing.

And HT thinks vulching is cool, so I don't see him trying to prevent spawn campers.

I think you will find the majority of the Luftwaffe (?) was destroyed on the ground so "vulching" is the equivalent to straffing planes on the ground. Since there are no planes parked on airfields to destroy by straffing, therefor reducing or eliminating a fields ability to have operational a/c, vulching is the next best thing.  :bolt:
