I've been buying MS Sidewinder Prec 2 usb sticks for years off ebay.
Normally sold at 50$ new, I usually manage to be patient and pick them up for around 25$ and shipping.

Still lots of good MS sticks out there, just need to be very sure what your buying, and know what your willing to spend.

People on ebay were paying top dollar for the MS feedback stick with the red buttons couple years ago. Don't know the status on price now, but I read there was only a limited amount of the sticks with the red buttons made.

What's the differences between the red button one and grey button one?

I don't get it.... Why buy that (add it to the "collection") when you have a CH Fighterstick AND a Saitek x52 already??

Will you ever use it?

MS Sidewinder are the best of the FFB sticks.
And even the ones without FFB are still some of the smoothest sticks out there.

I suspect he'll use it, and probably learn to use the FFB Buffet to be able to turn just a smidge tighter with better feedback.

Well Krusty,

I have ickle hands, the CH Combat Stick is a monster. the Sidewinder FFB2 fits my hand like a glove.
I wanted to try force feedback for the first time.
I wanted to test for myself first hand what all the fuss was about. Pervert loves his and doesn't stops going on about it. :D

I'll test the sidewinder for a few weeks and tell you if it is good enough to replace my CH Combat Stick. I might even do a table top video review for it along with my other sticks.

Let me know what you want to know about any of the sticks in my collection and I'll try to cover the subject.

1. it looks like a joystick should ie not a gimmick, the CH stick looks like this also.

2. they don't make FF joysticks to this standard any more.

3. it will probably out last the CH in wear and definitely out last the x52.

Pitch scaling, MS sticks tend to need some nice low curve scaling set up.

My review of MS Sidewinder will have to wait because there are currently a few bugs with AH2 and force feedback.
Title: Re: I brought a Microsoft Sidewinder FFB2 in mint condition for...

One bug can be overcome by disabling all force feedback, selecting Apply, then immediately re-enabling and clicking Apply again.  Otherwise the forces are all maximum (which can make it hard to do anything).  You have to do this once every time you log into an arena or start AH.

Hey guys, a quick update:

I've fully adopted the FFB2 as my stick of choice even though the FFB effects don't work 100% with Aces High. I even went back to my CH Combatstick to give it a second chance but found myself going right back to the FFB2 after a couple of days.

It's a shame Microsoft discontinued this fantastic piece of hardward, having FFB seems like cheating almost. Maybe a petition is in order. :aok

Having FFB allows me to adjust the sensitivity needed to move the stick, this is more of a convenience. Most importantly, I can feel the stall buffet through the stick. :aok

Oh man it's getting kind of mucky I will have to take it apart and deep clean soon. I was sent mine by a very kind squaddie about 3 years ago. It's still in perfect working order but handle has a worn down smooth patch where my hand sits  :lol

That's actually really neat. I like everything but the base of the stick. Might have to look into one of these.

Turning a K4 with the FF2 is hilarous loose grip on the stick and it firing of in every direction like a caged animal, thats when you know your turning it right  :lol

This is true. However, Microsoft did start reproducing their world famous Intelli Mouse Explorer 3.0 to FPS gamers delight.
