not sure about other arenas but lots of folks having problems in mid war. When they key the mic the name shows up but either no sound at all or just a little at the start and maybe next time be fine.
-
Been seeing this myself, even in the TA, and have had others point it out when it happened to my vox.
Seems to "cut off" most or part of what you say. Then the next time you transmit it is fine.
Seems to be worse for some than others with no real discernible cause that I've been able to find yet.
In the past I've had no issues with sound or vox, yet now it seems at times that its getting "clipped" as often as 1 in 3.
Ping for me is normally in the 60 - 100 range, so it shouldn't be network.
-
I had this problem last night in the TA during Rolex's training session.
Initially I thought it was on my end because I have been having some issues with sound on my computer.
-
Yes I've been noticing this same problem,it's almost as if squad channel is acting like range,ie. You hear the first 4 or 5 seconds then vox cuts out but you still see the mic as keyed and the players name. I have my sounds set so Vox overides all the other sounds and it still does but no sound is comming across.
Like I said it's like squad channel is cutting out the same as range does after the set time.
Hope that helps!

My problem with VOX is in late war as far as I know... not been to other arenas. Problem is VOX is distorted after the last patch. The rest of the game sounds are fine except everything went to full volume settings. had to reset engine..wind...etc to my preference. But voice is totally wacked. any ideas what may have changed with the update?
-
Could really use some help here........After the last patch my VOX is weak and distorted. I've updte my sound card drivers and tried all options in the voice and headset choices. What happened to vox and what else do I need to check? Too bad...vox was perfect before the patch.HELP!!!!!!!!
-
Excaliber, try adjusting the gain of the playback in the Windows Sound control panel. If it is too high it will distort the playback.
-
Thanks Skuzzy.... tried it and it made no difference. All game sounds are normal...... engines... gun fire.... wind etc all normal... Other players voices and mine when I tune to myself are scratchy, distorted and weak. I assume sounds are different that vox so it must be something to do with voice audio.....any more suggestions?
-
A DXDIAG output, at this point, might be helpful.
-
Also note, if you are on a wireless connection, it is not beyond the realm of possibilites VOX is going to sound bad due to bit errors in the USP packet stream. Once packet is lost it is lost. This can cause all manner of VOX problems.
Just a thought.

No wireless here :-)
DXDIAG output? As in screen shot....?
-
as in Start, Run, Dxdiag, copy results, paste here.

I should add that I have a squaddie experiencing these same exact problems. Vox gets cut short (he can only hear 1-2 seconds, and we can only hear 1-2 seconds of his). He's experienced this in both the orange (pink) arena, and in the special events arena.
He swears everything was fine until this latest update, and I can vouch. He's on every single day and the same day of this latest update is when it began happening. He also once in a rare while gets a CTD when hitting T to transmit.
He's connected through the onboard sound on his motherboard. I don't remember the type but I do remember that it wasn't Realtek. I talked him through a pingplotter and he claims he is getting no dropped packets, and 60-80ms consistently. I need to try to talk him into doing a screenshot and dxdiag, so when I get more info I'll be more than happy to add it all.
I should also note that I use a Turtle Beach AKR-8 (it's the HPA2 but using a USB connection) and aside from a tiny 'mini-stutter' when I first hit transmit (of which I'm assuming is related to the USB interface) I've had no problems whatsoever as far as sound/vox reliability. Of course I do have some of the sound quality issues other are having, but it's not as bad as others are reporting.. and frankly not a proper subject for this particular thread.

Get rid of that ATI sound driver, unless your computer is connected to a television and you want the audio going through the HDMI port.
