Title: 9 years and loggin off
Post by: mijoieau on August 04, 2010, 06:20:42 AM
I know dont let the door hit my bellybutton smack, but its been a while since i have had a good fight, the good old boys are all gone and the new upgrades only seem to make it worse.

I didn't play aces for the graphics i loved the net code, but there comes a time when the tactics have become just boring.
I only played aces the last year or so for FSO but its not wroth the money just for FSO.
Its a shame the promised arena like fso didn't ever work out, but instead we got ww1 and i have to say that was the most boring 5 minutes of my life.

I had alot of fun with some every good pilots and learnt alot about history of ww2 but in the end i cant find a good fight and the whole massive town needing to many to capture with noe or without just sucks, the game seems more and more arcade like by the day.

I have logged in for over 9 years and meat alot of nice people, the game was so good for so long that i lost girlfriends to it and lost many rounds at the pub. I am not just having a squeak but the only way i can say that i think its become a waste of time is not to pay the bill, i do feel for people that cant afford to pay the bill and thats problem the main reason the good fights are gone.

I would say to the owners of the game, your net coding was the best i have ever seen but the upgrades were down grades for the last 2 years.

I have had so many fun hours but now its just a waste of my time.

over and out

Good luck, and keep an open mind to coming back.  The off hours are always the hardest to balance - something that's a tremendous improvement at peak times can be disruptive off-peak.

Sorry tongs, i did just go for a smoke, but this game is giving me lung cancer of late to much going for a smoke instead of being immersed in the game.
The ABU was a good squad nothing personal as you know, i have just had enough and need time out or maybe time over.
Take care and be nice to the sheep.

<S> Gastly, i am sure that if i could play peak then it many have been an upgrade (maybe) but yes the off peak times now are dead and just no fun.
The maps are so large for 50 players and there is no way any capture will happen so noone teams up due to the fail.

Off peak the maps with 50 players on it seems to be turning into a GV time as very few planes are up and the GV bases flash alot, but aces high to me was a plane game and i hate Gvs i would play tanks high if that was what i was into.
I know things must move forward and you are probably right that peak times this game may be alot of fun if i could play then.
I do live in the past a bit as i remember when 100 to 150 players was a normal night but its been shrinking by the year to the point where offline maps have 30 times the players on being 4 drones per base.

I think the off hour times are in for a much needed boost.

I saw 8 new JP players on Knights yesterday afternoon from FA.  Just need to make sure they all don't go flocking to Bish otherwise the ENY will really be scary.

I will educate them in the best way I know how.   HT needs to have a single JP forum so that they can talk to each other on this BBS and let Rolex moderate it.

:D :t love the fact that Bish learned all the high eny planes so as to kick butt when outnumbering the knights and rooks combined :aok

I guess I'm lost...the video upgrades are awesome and the town upgrades were long overdue.  I've been on for only two years but it always seemed strange to me that one player could take a base on his own if he timed it right and was left unopposed for about 12 minutes.  THAT is an arcade game lacking any combat realism...he is trusting that no one is watching the town and base flash.

Now?  Its perfect...you almost have to have aerial support for eyes-on all the many buildings in town to take down because its almost impossible to see them all from the ground.  That is how ground combat works..then and now.  I think the changes have been wholesale perfect.  It sounds like the peak time issues are the reason for no fights and now that you can't take a base alone or with just a couple of players, its no longer attractive.  I would feel that way too.  Hope you come back.

^ This.

I've only been here a year and a half and the game is 100% improved, IMHO. Getting better with each update, my only complaint is my crappy computer is getting older and less able to cope every day, but that's no one's fault but my own.

Thought I saw a few more "rising suns" out there. Oscars and Tojos will need to be traded in for Zeros and Franks.

:salute Take a couple of months R&R from AH. Don't say "for good". Immerse yourself in something else for a bit, perhaps.
Anyway, Best Wishes.

I only played aces the last year or so for FSO but its not wroth the money just for FSO.

FSO is all I play for. I just can't seem to enjoy the Main Arena. I try to fly with my squad in the MA before FSO, sometimes I can, sometimes I can't.

<S> cya all in 2 weeks  :lol
Don't get me wrong i know the upgrades would suit may people, the game does look a lot better, doesn't sound very good or vox anyway.

My whining is more about the numbers that are on off peak, and also the game play that causes.
Its hard to fight with only 40 to 50 on all 3 sides when many of those numbers are sitting in a tower on in a gv.

I dont know what the answer is to getting more people back in off peak times but i wish there was a simple way for that to happen, i thought that maybe the new patches would bring back some oldies or get new players but its not improved if anything its getting worse.

Hmm... I log off every time I play.  Nine years is a long time to go without logging off.  So YOU were causing all those cap and ENY problems!   :neener:

The off-hours need a boost? Totally. I pretty much just play for FSO too but I currently think that alone is worth my subscription.

I can see your point scooner, last night when you probably made this decision I was finding it difficult to get a fight, couldn't even get my squaddies to talk to me because they were bored and gone AFK. A boost of JP players is quite welcome.

I joined back in the beta days when I was a punk, then left after after a few years when work got in the way of fun.  I think I might have left several times.  Anyway, you always get the DT's and have to return.  Such is the cycle of AH life.  Good luck, and cya back sooner than you think...

Too bad we're losing a vet.  But the thing I want to know is this: why the finger pointing and complaining with absolutely no suggestions?  I don't count "not liking it" as a reason.  Spell it out.

A company who is extremely serious about customer service, does not ask other customers to find out why a person is electing not to use their product.  So I am sure HTC will be seeking addition feedback on their own.

I keep thinking how to attract more players in the off peak times, i remember there was a price money pool for the top players, that worked at the time, but i think thats a pointless avenue as the same 10 people that rank would win and every month and it would annoy others and cause clashes and name calling.

Advertising in other counties would be the way but it cost money, maybe if HTC targeted Air shows in other countries to market the game that may work and would be cheap, so cheap because i am sure devoted fans of the game could organize to run a simple booth for free, out of the love for the game and knowing it would help it grow.

I thought about the possibility of free moths for signing up other players but its a flawed idea for many reasons, and would not be worth the work as it would be hard to track.

In the end i think the guys i used to play with off peak had a passion for history and the game and thats why our squad would have larger numbers on itself than the number of players that are in all three teams off peak now, not only did they understand and teach each other a lot about history of war but also spent alot of time helping each other with tactics and ACM.

I read a post today about the game with a statement: the game isn't the problem its the type of players now that cause the game to be a arcade game not a sim, i think alot of that is true as the younger players now with any understanding of the past will not learn much from aces high as most of the older players and real life vets have all logged off and don't play much, and when they do play the cheap 200 smack talk is just plain insulting to anyone that is silly enough to have 200 on.

Today i missed play FSO it was so tempting to resign up and play, but then taking the boat out to catch dinner was a lot more fun and productive anyway, back in the day i would have had to have a computer in the boat and play between catches but now maybe my whine is that real life is better than any arcade structured game, but the aces years ago was worth missing out of a good hall of fresh flatheads.

And me!!, how were the flatties?

Also agree it would be worth a try setting up a booth at airshows, could attract some new players.

Hi Steely
The flatties were off today, couldn't be bothered working so took the kids out for a fish, was such i nice day the flatties didn't matter.

I second the airshow aces booth at air shows, if they need display booths i can help with cost price booths as that's what i do.
