I've got a 1.2 gig T-Bird and I want to upgrade the CPU Cooling Fan.
I've seen reviews in Tom's Hardware and like the Silverado, but can't find it.
Any recommendations on Cooling Fans and Places to buy them??

www.noisecontrol.de (http://www.noisecontrol.de) Maybe one of our German players can ship it too you, otherwise you are looking at a ton of money to get one.

VolcanoII is the best Heatsink & Fan combo for the money. The reviews on it were good and it should be available anywhere..
Dog out...........

Cobra,
Go to this website, http://www.aconto.de/ (http://www.aconto.de/) then click on the english flag. There is an information and and ordering page - $67 US - it ain't cheap!
I've been looking at this one myself, but the price turned me away. I have the GlobalWinFOP32 which does great (1.33 T'bird at 34 degree CPU temp) if you want a cheaper alternative (about $22).

Hey Cobra,
Here's just one more link www.coldcpu.com (http://www.coldcpu.com)

Heyas
I am using a globalwin WBK38 on an AMD Duron 800, I am able to run at 1ghz with it.
Oh yeah, guess I should mention, that the WBK38 uses a Delta 38cfm fan, which is probably the fastest, loudest 60mm fan in use on cpu coolers, however most of the top end air coolers use this fan. It takes a little getting used to...

Cobra,
Remember the higher rpm the "louder" the fan.
Don't think it should be a problem...hehe

Thanks for all the help guys!
I ordered the Global Win CAK38! (plus the Artic II compound)
Of Course it will sound like a Pratt & Whitney on run-up, but that should only add to the immersion (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Heh I have a real good idea how it will sound Cobra +)
Some things you can do to reduce the noise... I've seen using silicone between the base of the fan and the heatsink to stop vibration. And removing the sticker from the centre hub of the fan, and removing the grille. The last two didn't make a whole lotta difference to me.
AMD Duron 800 @ 1ghz
Antec case
2 80mm fans pullin in
2 80mm fans blowing out
PS fan blowing out
ASUS A7V 133A - chipset fan
Blorb on GF2 MX
WBK 38 on CPU
9 fans total, and really its not too bad noise wise. I keep it under the desk of course.

Hehe Skurj, sounds like my system - I have the same amount of fans and case. I slightly customized my case (Antec full tower) and put an internal fan between the bottom and top compartments for additional airflow. Given that I am perfectly comfortable that nothing will melt down, the noise is rather relaxing (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
I was wondering about the GlobalWin fans (and others). My Duron 800 had a fairly generic hsf, the T'bird 1.33 that I now have is cooled by the GlobalWin FOP-32. When a processor intensive action takes place (highlight and move a window around the screen - or start up seti@home) the fan takes off and runs faster and louder. Do all of the newer, better HSFs do the same?
Thanks.

Nethawk.. I think the fan speed picking up is a function of the mobo. The mobo just has to vary the voltage, that is if its connected to the mobo at all.
The Delta 38 fan on my cooler should NEVER be plugged into the mobo, or it will fry something due to too high a current draw.
I think there are some systems out there that do that, I dunno of any specifics.
I am considering porting the CPU cooler directly out of the case through some sort of tube or something, and possibly a 120mm fan blowing out the top. Its brand new for now, so I am not gonna getinto chopping it up yet tho +)

Ok guys,
WinK38 CPU Cooler installed!
I lowered my CPU temp by 12 degrees C!!
It is a bit louder, but then I like it. I can't hear the wife complain :D So its a Win/Win!
Thanks for all the help!

Yo Cobra,
Seriously if i were you ! (i'd of already OC'd the hell outa the cpu/volt modded the board and added a water setup) :D
But water is so great there's no noisy fan whatsoever to peeve off ya beloved :)
Next upgrade just look at it, It's simpler/safer than what you think
Even at stock speed/voltage i would choose water everytime now
But ya know i am a darn nutty limey by now he he
Forgot to ask..... can you post temps please cobra, I am building a system for him and he liked the cak
Have Fun
