Title: Happiness: Just got the other comp going after surge killed it.
Post by: Getback on August 05, 2010, 03:47:34 AM
She is up and running. Still have to reload the data I saved.

I ordered a micro board in error but said what the heck I will just use that. So far so good. The one cool thing is it came with a parallel port. Which was nice since my printer like that port better than the USB port. But then my printer failed. Dern it.

The one thing I don't like about the board is that it seems to take a long time to post. It stops at the mainboard screen a little longer than I like. Seems I have to press tab.

Addendum: Restored the data and it worked like a charm. Used Acronis Home 11. After the surge killed the computer I pulled the old hard drive out and backed up the data onto a new hard drive that I had installed on my other computer. Also bought a new surge protector from a suggestion made by Skuzzy. Then I networked the computers, reinstalled all the programs, and then of course restored the data from the new hard drive on the other computer.

In bios you can put it on fast boot might be named something different on your board. The only problem I seen on some micro boards is if you use a big vid card it will cover up the PCI slot and you can not use your sound card.
