Great video showing you step by step how to do it. reccomend DL'ing the DIVx video "playa" to see the video. I got errors when I used real player. But the video is only 10 Mb in zipped form. Its full screen and is very explicit on how to.
I know mason was interested and maybe sopme others. Sorry if you have already seen this :)

Ammo, you do know overclocking that CPU is not going to do a whole lot for you with that wimpy GF2 Mx card in there right?
Get a Gf 3 in there and it'll scream. :) (Make sure to set AGP aperature size to 128 MB in the bios if you do put a GF 3 in.)

I'm considering using flat model paint or fingernail polish instead of superglue for filling the pits... easier to work with I think.
PS: I hope Santa's bringing you a nice, big, honkin heavy super-duper cooler for the cpu!

Forget the big noisy coolers, get watercooling!
It's easyer than you think and its quiet.

right now, Aces high pushes my CPU to 51 degrees celsius, while it generaaly runs around 45 degrees under normal load. Do you think OC'ing it will push it past the cooling capabilties of my volcana 5 cooler?

Depends how high you go. (not familure with that cooler though) ... watch it close and see how she does :)

Overclocking will increase your heat production dramatically if you increase CPU drive voltage (you need to do that if you want a stable overclock)
If your CPU goes anywhere near 60C its time to de-clock or get a better cooler.

anyone tried just increasing the FSB in bios?
Looks like some guys over at Anandtech forums were getting 145-150MHz out of their systems.

I overclocked from 1.4ghz to 1.5ghz, with no increase in temperature.
running default voltage, stable.
highest temp is 52c; idle is 47c.

I overclocked from 1.4 to 1.7Ghz with 1.8V core, stable. No rise in CPU temperature..
Oh right, I have watercooling.. :D

so to do this, you do the procedure in the film, then what?

Ammo, then you just go to bios and select a CPU multiplier that is higher than original. Save, exit, machine reboots and you get a higher Mhz on bootup.
OTOH if you set the fsb/multiplier higher than your CPU/memory/motherboard/cooling allows, you save the settings, boot the computer but oops no post, dead computer :)

Nah, no worries, find clear CMOS jumper from the motherboard manual, do the deed and with any luck your computer is back up and running. There is some percentage chance however that it STAYS dead, very small tho.
That is why you should make any changes in very small increments, boot after change, test, if stable, change some more.. etc.

If you raise it incrementally and test with 3dmark, you know when you are getting near the limit. Heat is a major issue, too though. Go here to see how your palomino has been overclocking for others... as well as your Epox board, which looks to be a good platform for O'clocking

thanks ammo, i'll have a look when i get home. i just did a reformat and new install of windows XP pro.
btw, which software did you load from the 8KHA+ CD to get the temp setting on the MB (i know we have the same MB).
i'll play more with OC'ng this week i think.
