Can you get into your modem via 192.168.100.1 and post what comes up on the system button?
-
I have Charter too. At least once a week, every week over the past 5 years I get a connection interruption that lasts anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours. Sometimes it's the middle of the week, sometimes it's Saturday afternoon.
I will say this though, the last time we had to call them in, they put a signal booster in the house right where the main line comes in and after I upgraded my internet speed thus getting a brand new modem that complies with the new high speed standards, I've had fewer interruptions and none more than 5 minutes. The last major issue we had came from a box 2 blocks away and was caused by a tech doing a new install on a house, the dipstick knocked out a 5 block radius. It took me 2 hours of arguing with their support to get them to not only admit there was a problem but send someone out to fix it.

lol I used to work for charter cable.
that company is horrid.

they can't possibly be worse than crapcast.

Uverse is currently on my doo doo list. Funny that every time I call them I go immediately to tier 2 now days.

Used to have Charter for a few years and they were good...right up to the point of 2.5 years. Then they went to hell in a handbasket and I would loose connection all the dang time for no reason...I was told repeatedly it was because my modem was needing a reset...when they would do it it would last maybe 2-3 days and then happen again. I never got a new modem from them no matter that it was their damn modem that kept fudging up. I finally canceled and went with U-verse and when I canceled I did so in person at their office about 2 minutes up the street and I tossed the modem onto the front desk and said "I want to cancel!" I had the office manager and head account manager there in about 2 minutes trying to get me to stay with free service for 2 months and all this other stuff. I paid my final bill by cash and walked out with U-verse getting installed when I was down there doing that.
Just moved and have gotten automatically sent to the U-Verse "Escalation Center". I even have a special tech support number to call...not the one that everyone has to use. I have had them in another house for well over a year with minimal problems due to lines getting chewed up or something else like that.
However my current house hasn't had a home phone in over 25 years and when I called to get U-Verse installed they told me it wasn't available even though neighbors all around have it. I was told first time that "they couldn't install U-verse because my home only had copper wiring coming to it." Talk about a handsomehunk tech/sales person. My old house had the same thing and they came out and installed into it with no trouble.
Anyway now that I have created stink for them to no end I have had AT&T trucks in the neighborhood and driveway since my phone call last Wednesday. I was told that they would be installing fiber into the neighborhood and into my house...happened last Thursday - Today...and then I am scheduled for my installation on Friday with some no cost upgrades according to the installation supervisor that came by with his crew on Friday just to make sure that all was going according to the plan.
I got fussed at by a little old lady after the supervisor was stopped by her and asked why service for her television was out on Thursday and Friday afternoons. She told him that "they shouldn't have to shut down things just to install new cables for THOSE PEOPLE" while pointing at me.

Those people :rofl

Check your signal to noise ratio in your modem. If it's low then your connection speed is too high for the resistance created by your distance to the dslam. I had to drop my connection speed from 8Mbit to 4 in order to have an unbuffered (low latency) and stable connection. Dropped a good 30ms away from my ping times and no more dropouts.

CHARTER SUCKS!

Well for all my horn blowing about AT&T actually getting their crap together they SCREWED IT UP AGAIN!
They got my flapping address wrong and went to install it at my neighbors who already have U-Verse installed and then when I was on the phone with the people about changing the address the tech was late for his next appointment and had to leave (btw he was 2 days early now)...SO instead of the 11th these fudgers have me waiting again...3.5 hours later on the phone with them and now I don't know when it is going to be installed.

LOL! I work for a contracting company (TAK Communications) out of S.D and basically it is all just like satellite comes in to main hub and then sent out to smaller hubs and they work like a AMP.but more lines on and further down less signal, and alot depends on how many using at the time lowers signal levels.I myself have DSL threw local phone company twice as fast 1/3 less.
Have they in staled a house AMP up to the main line inside your house if not,ask for one. What type of cable runs from the pole or ground box?New code is R6,and what is the type of cable coming of of your splitters, your modem line should be coming of of the first splitter and on the splitter it should be on the 3.5 loss side.

Charter does suck, a charter technician came to my door for a unpayed bill. He told me, a technician is to go out once a month and bill collect on unpaid bills.
After some conversation with him I didn't have any unpayed bills with charter, he was at the wrong address.
Just so happen I had lots of complaints, I did get a newer modem and my connection is better, still get dropped on occasion. I bet that technician, wishes he never comes back to my place of living.
Charter sucks IMHO.

comcast and companies like them are the worst of the worst
22+ million customers each paying at least $100 a month....not including the PPV, porn movies, ect ect.....can anybody add that up I suk at math but I know there is something seriously wrong with the sum.

I've got a local company that has given me steady and fast internet and the best customer service I have ever experienced. Unfortunately they were just bought out by a company in Georgia and now I'm worried. :uhoh
