Should be able to go into smoke laying mode when the CV is trying to egress shore battery attack.

Goodbye framerate.

Not true at all. They did a great job with tank smoke.

agreed, I'm all for it, especially since it'd help add to emersion (bad spelling, i know)

Who controls it?
-
take this 1 step further and let players spawn and control destroyer escorts.
-
Maybe limit one smoke screen per destroyer for a 10-15 minute period before the next smoke screen can be available. As afar who would control?? Maybe allow a person to take command of the DD like you do the carrier group but not be able to move the ship just start smoke screen?? Just a thought.

what if the DDs can be separated from the CV and controlled and as long as they stay within a certain distance of the CV they can keep using the DD? that and add speed controls for the CV group. instead of allowing it to constantly sail a certain speed. let people slow it down or speed it up

if you add the smoke generation, you might as well add the torpedo launchers since most tin cans had them.

then youd have to turn the group to use them. read what i wrote and that would moot this

my bad, 321 I was a bit overzealous in my posting. :salute

IRL, CV's should never be in shore battery range.

Just because the scenario should never be necessary even though we know different.

IRL the nearby base would not alert just because a strike group was arming on the deck of the CV.

Like Pearl Harbor?

A tank shell is quite a bit smaller than the smoke generators on a DD. Not to mention it is very
rare indeed to have 5-6 tanks pumping out smoke rounds at once. A battlegroup under attack
would have a good incentive to lay all the smoke it could, my framerate statement stands.

no such thing as overzealous in a wishlist post as long as it stays realistic bud :aok
