Nice Spot Vulcan...hey if a US citizen comes down to work on a permit are they allowed a rifle and hunting permit as well? I am out of work here in a couple of weeks and have considered moving for a year or more to that part of the world. Just curious.

OK.. so help me understand this.
Yes I understand that people hunt. As a man who indulges in carnivorous activities quite often (including venison from time to time) I completely understand that. And while I'm not attracted to the activity, I can also understand how some people can enjoy hunting. I can assume that there is some kind of sport involved in the whole thing, and I can understand how some people can be attractive to that. I get it.
What I don't get is the need to post pictures of a person posing in front of a dead carcass. I find it revolting in a sense, and I don't understand the attraction of it all. So you shot a Buck. Good for you. Likewise, I also don't understand the whole taxdermified deer head on a plaque, or in the nature setting in the corner of a room.
For the record, I also feel the same way to posing in front of a dead fish, or any other dead animal for that matter...

yup. If you do it, visit here for advice on what to do/bring (gun stuff is bloody expensive, not a tax thing, just economies of scale) http://www.fishnhunt.co.nz/forum/YaBB.cgi

Well, for a genuine hunter it usually takes a lot of skill, effort and patience. I hunt, I do it for fitness, the outdoors, stress relief from work, and the free meat :) . Not really into the trophy thing but hey if some people enjoy that let em ;)

Having not yet hunted, when you get an animal that big, what's the procedure for getting the meat and rack back to camp? I'm guessing it's several hundred pounds of meat, right?
Do you clean the animal, walk out, then ride or drive back to get the rest, or do you carry it all out?
