Title: A way to implement battleships into AH
Post by: Imowface on August 14, 2010, 05:55:37 PM
I know give us player controlled battleships threads exist, but this isnt one, im not sure if a sudgestion like this has been made before, but, I propose rather then seperate loan wolf battleships roaming around the MA, Tasgroups, but instead of CV's, just sub in BB's and also, I would say give them ship to ship radar, and while having planes at red dots, maybe represent ships as triangles, , I think that this would be a good idea to add to the game as this would encourage more ship to ship, + port raids in the MA and also give the scenario group more stuff to work with aswell

I'm all for battle ships as long as they are not part of any fleet/group, or if they do have some others, just let it be 1-2 destroyers.

Would be great for scenarios imho

Well that sure worked out well for the Prince of Wales and Repulse.  Come to think of it, worked
just fine for the Bismarck as well

Battleships are designed for fleet operations.  There's a reason they didn't lone wolf successfully.

what I was saying, is take the TG we have now, take out the Cruiser and the Carrier, Stick the Musashi, Bismark, Iowa in there place, give them ship to ship radar and bam, AH now can have fun filled ship VS ship battles :)

Which isn't a bad thing at all. I see a lot of potential for naval warfare in AH, eh I mean SL.  :noid

For each Task group added your adding a ton of information that has to be updated very often to everyones front end. That is the reason you don't large numbers of task groups in the game. The positional info, dar info and such would soon overwhelm the packet size.

Maybe some float planes on the battleship too.  :airplane:

Not an expert here but we only get size type, etc in near ones, everything else is just a dot and dots re small.

Just replace the cruiser and 3 destroyers with a battleship. Maybe have a larger square over top of the enemy fleet's general area (say, within 2 miles?). Two types of fleets, one hits harder, the other has more back up firepower.

Use the Wisconsin instead of the Iowa, then they could put a yellow helmet with a big green G on the funnel.
