Title: Community, I really need your prayers
Post by: USRanger on August 15, 2010, 08:43:11 PM
Yesterday my fiance', 7 months pregnant with our daughter, had a serious car accident.  Apparently, the metal coupling on the brake lines on her van had rusted & decided to split while she was on the highway.  She had no idea she was spewing brake fluid on the road behind her until she hit the off ramp.  She had no brakes.   It's a short 180 degree off ramp that gave her no time to react.  She rolled the van twice and then it slid on the driver's side for quite aways out into a field.  Although she had her seatbelt on, she got pretty banged up and, worse of all, it sent the baby into distress.  I've been at the hospital with her for the last 36 hours, while the docs have been trying to get the baby problems under control and take care of Shannon's injuries.  They've been keeping a room ready for an emergency premature C-section if it comes down to it.  Right now, with medication, the baby ordeal is under control.  It's just a waiting game now.  I ask for prayers from anyone that will take the time.  We are each single parents of 3, so our baby will be the 7th cootie kid in our home.  I need momma at home.

Tho not very religious myself, I find myself constantly praying for them & everything to be ok.  I ask you all to join me and send a short prayer for my family.  They are my life and I am nothing with out them.  Thank you for your time.

Right now, with medication, the baby ordeal is under control.

Hang in there, dude.  Seven months these days is like term used to be.  My daughter was born at 33 weeks, but I remember we celebrated when we hit 28.  That was nearly a quarter of a century ago, nothing but improvement in the science ever since.  How's poor Shannon?  Couldn't tell what her injuries were.  Kiss her for me for being bright enough to wear her seat belt.

All will be fine, no matter how worried you are right now.  Keep us posted as things progress.

You and yours are in my prayers.

My son was born at six weeks premature - with a little bit of help from above, they really can work miracles.  And that was 18 years ago - there have been light years of medical advances since. Just hang in there...

:pray  Prayers are with u and ur family.

BTW, what type of van was she in.  I had a Oldsmobile silohette that had done the samething escept I did get into a accideent.  Was traveling on our old country roads when I was coming up to a stop sign.  Pressed on the brake and had nothing.  Road was coming up to a tee too but was going up hill.  Hit the e brake and slowed down enough to make the turn.  When I got the van home, I found the brake line cracked up to the rear brakes right at one of the brake line clamps in the middle of the van.  Problem with cars today is they no longer have a dual resevor master clyinder.  So if you lose a line, U lose all your brakes.  The old cars have two systems.  When u have a brake line failure, U only lose brakes to 2 tires.  Generally it would be a left front and a right rear tire would be 1 circuit and vice versa for the other circuit.

Anyways, hope everything works out and momma and the baby come home.  :salute

:pray Please continue to keep your prayers and good wishes coming for our good friend, his fiance and entire family.

I know you want momma home so, you can take care of her but until the Doc's are through being very careful with her situation (doing their job), I am including a special prayer also for the seven of you at home to keep you all together and gather strength from each other and receive the many blessings that I believe are currently on their way to give you all comfort and peace of mind.

Just returned here after a few days away.  Wow.  I'm floored.  The show of support from this community is awesome.  I don't even know what to say.

I do have good news all around to report.  The baby is doing fine and under control.  Momma is beat up & sore but all in all ok.  She didn't break any bones, but did smack her head on the driver's side window, plus other bumps, bruises & cuts.  That's just fine with both of us.  She (they) get to come home tomorrow or the day after.  Home at last.

The reasons they faired well was because one, although she rolled the van twice, it was more of a double barrel roll while sliding forward & not one of those side over side type of rolls.  Two is that she always wears her seatbelt.  Three is that we disabled her air bag when she started to show.  At the time, I didn't feel right doing that, but now I'm glad I did.  If it had deployed, it would have nailed the baby and probably would've had a different outcome.

So again, I want to thank each & every one of you for your support.  When I show her this thread, she will be blown away (and probably embarrassed :) ).  You guys really made my day reading this.  Thank you all so much.  I'm truly touched that my family & myself have such a great group of virtual friends.  You guys are the best!

 Absolutely no coincidence in such wonderful news.  Your diligence in disconnecting the airbag, your fiances decision to always wear seatbelts, even the angle in which the van rolled and skidded, I bet that up to the last second her instincts were putting the vehicle in the best possible position given the circumstances.  Yes, your baby had some angels on her side, and some pretty darn smart parents too!  :salute

You have my permission to hold this over the heads of the other 6 Ranger house chaps  :D  Tell them you have the right to tell them what is good for them because you are just plain smarter than they are, until they have earned more experience.

Ok well, if your gonna show your better half then I am FOR SURE going to correct your quote!  :D

Took me a while to post in a few threads in the last 8 years and yours was one of them. I am so grateful for you that you can recover from this because I refuse to think of it being any other way. This community is a unique thing and it is my reason for doing what I do in this virtual world. From this game I have people in my life on a daily basis that I don't know what I would do without them. You all are in my home almost every evening making me laugh and yes even making my blood boil but, what family doesn't.

It was breath taking to hear what happened and now relieving to hear the great news of recovery.

Can't wait to see pics of the little one!

Your family will still be in our prayers util everyone is happily at home and well.

I liked how my wife passed the prayer request around at her work...she was telling them "Don't worry if you don't know the names, just tell' him that it's the family of that Ranger guy on my husband's internet game...God will know who it's for."   :aok    :pray
