Title: Have a question about finding a plane

I'm trying to hunt down my grandmothers plane. It was a late 60's model Cessna 172. I've been searching our records for the tail number. Obviously I assume that would be the biggest help. Haven't found it yet. When I do find it, is there a database that may pinpoint its whereabouts/current owners/condition? Just curious. She was a civil air patrolwoman in Florida for a long time, founded a flying club for women (pioneered it actually in Florida for them), and also taught me to fly. Just wondering if anyone has any insight. Thanks

Black Sheep,

If you have access to her logbooks, then you should have the registration numbers for every plane she ever flew...

Start with her logbooks, sounds like she should have left some pretty extnesive ones lying about somewhere, if that doesn't yield anything try tracing the registers or records of the airport she flew and parked the most at with the aircraft, and lastly if the cesna in question was her primary patrol aircraft while in the civil air patrol then try tracing down the records and registrys for that time period.
