				Hi,

this is kind of a weird one.

My FPS is at 60 almost all of the time and never ever drops below 40, yet the game is still kind of jerking when in flight and i cant see why.
I dont play with any background processes, and have AH priority set to high.

 Here are my specs:

 Acer Aspire 8735G

 Intel Core 2 duo processor
 T6600 2.2GHz  800MHz FSB

 NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M

 4GB mem

 500GB HD

 Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit

 dxdiag if needed :  http://www.mediafire.com/?ewbi9do8zckiqod

 Appreciate any help :)
-
I cannot see the DXDIAG, but it appears to be a laptop.  Power management is usually the culprit in a laptop.  You need to set it to "high performance" and do not allow anything to "sleep", for starters.

-
FYI, the only parts of the dxdiag needed is system information, graphics devices and sound devices. I'm not sure but I think Skuzzy has an aversion to pulling files from mediafire and some others.

What are your game graphics settings? Specifics please.

-
Not an aversion, just a security issue.

-
Not an aversion, just a security issue. I understand. One reason I use Dropbox, all files securely linked to multiple systems directly under my control including my work systems, all files scanned by multiple anti-virus programs.
-
The problem is, there are viruses on the Internet today, which cannot be detected by any anti-virus program available in the market.  I am practicing, better safe than sorry.

-
				Laptop is on High performance.

I usually have everything on full (except self/smooth shadowing which i leave disabled)
I have tried reducing the sliders and disabling detailed terrain/water, but there is no change in performance.. still 60FPS and jerking

Apologies about the dxdiag.  here are the System/Display/Sound parts of it:

Also, i have tried different resolutions / anti aliasing settings etc. to no avail

How many and what processes are you running on that at the time that you pulled the DXDiag?  Was it basically how you have it set when you play, or were you running a bunch of stuff that you don't usually have running when you play?

Anyway, your GPU is pretty underpowered by gaming standards.  Another Aspire laptop with the same card posted 5816 on 3DMark 2006

 http://www.notebookcheck.net/Hands-On-Acer-Aspire-5739G-in-Review.18838.0.html

which if it's apples to apples with the TomsHardware testing (which is sometimes a BIG assumption), puts the GPU performance quite literally off the bottom of the chart for today's gaming GPU's.

 http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2010-gaming-graphics-charts-q2-high-quality/3DMark06-v1.1.0,2131.html

And coupled with a 2.2 Ghz processor, you're getting hit on every side. I'd be doing everything possible to stop any and every unnecessary processes (Iobit makes game booster, which is a great tool for doing this), and I'd be running that at pretty low slider settings in AH and no AA -  and possibly even looking at how possible it might be to give up some screen coverage and run at 1024x768.

thanks very much for the info ghastly!! <S>

-
Just a quick question though ..

shouldnt i be getting a drop of FPS  ( <60 ), in game, if the system is struggling?
-
You'd think so, wouldn't you?  I wonder though - I was seeing some "weirdness" with my own system in that regard.  It was obviously stuttering/sputtering, yet CTL-I showed a constant 59 even though what I was seeing appeared as though it was displaying the same frame more than once at points.

And I have very very different hardware from you.

I'm not quite sure which action I took resolved my issue - it still shows the same flat 59, but appears to actually be now. And it should, it's a pretty powerful system, running quite clean.

				hmmm,

anyway, i appreciate the replies and ill download game booster tonight :)

 thanks
