I climbed inside aft portion of this today....
A bolt fastening the flame holder went missing and a few other minor things needed attention. I was surprised how clean it was, not a spec of soot anywhere in the afterburner. Looks like I will be going to work for a jet dragster team though, talk about a dream job! Going to get a crash course in turbine assembly and hopefully attend the Motorsports Welding school at Miller this winter. There is talk of even getting me into the Turbine class at Embry Riddle in Daytona.
I cant wait to get started, this is a rare opportunity in motorsports if not one of a kind. Have to give two weeks notice to my current employer tomorrow, it will be bitter sweet. I just cant pass this up though, CAP1 you better drag your car out to one of the shows!

Strip, Lincoln also has a nascar/race approved training also for welding, i was going to take the course just to touch up on my welding and learn any new technics, most likely ill be taking it during the winter

Lincoln is a nasty word in this camp, they have a primary sponsor from Miller.
;)
(Its a great course though...)

a "crash" course in trubine assembly? :uhoh So if I see you working on my 262 after this course should I be greatful or scared? :lol
all jokes aside that is one helluva cool job, congrats

Good luck Strip. I've used Miller Migs and Tigs and love em. Lincoln's are fine though, but sponsorship is something different. I wish you the best. :rock
