Title: Sweet smell of JP-4 this evening..
Post by: Puma44 on August 16, 2010, 11:22:47 PM
Some great Jet Air Combat tonight.  A lot of well flown ACM fights, making it a very tough crowd.  One of the absolutely best fights I've had in the game came courtesy of "Oldman".  Don't let the name fool ya.  He's quite the slippery adversary!  :rock The two of us got in a low altitude (less than 300 feet), low airspeed (lowest I saw, 142) turning fight with full flaps and I'm sure I saw his canopy rolled back and something resembling the kitchen sink hanging over the side to slow him down even farther.  Well, we went round and round several times and I finally got lucky.  A couple screen shots below.

So, you AVA fans, watch out.  If he can hold you off like this in front of ya, imagine what he'll do behind ya.  Oh, by the way, the next sortie, he was hunting for me and got even.  Well done, Oldman! :aok   It was indeed a pleasure turning and burning with you. :salute

That was no kitchen sink .......... he rolled back the canopy and gave you a no pants moon salute  :salute (frame 1)

Unfortunately, for him (frame 2) he had flatulence and a well placed round must have ignited

I finally got lucky.

Hardly luck, dude, you clearly outflew me.  Kept looking over my shoulder watching your plane creep further and further into the turn, thinking to myself "How in the world is he doing that, we have the same plane!"  Next time I'm bringing the anchor, throw that sucker out on a good strong rope and it's really easy to do tight turns.

Good fun in there last night with a lot of good people.

Ah, so that's what caused the round yellow cloud that's visible in the second screen shot.  I'll be sure to wear my gas mask tonight!

I vote for another week of this setup if it's doable.  :salute

Hey Oldman, you were doing pretty darn good yourself.  When I first turned on you it was obvious you were slowing down.  Thinking well, with some BFM this is going to be easy.  Then you kept slowing down, and I kept extending another notch of flaps, and you kept slowing down, more flaps, stall warning from intermittent to steady.  Then I'm thinking, "is he going to extend the landing gear next?".  Thanks again for a very challenging and fun engagement.  I am hereby renaming you "Tricky Oldman".  :salute
