Title: Rudder damage on CV
Post by: W7LPNRICK on August 18, 2010, 01:27:11 PM
The game is probably not programmed for it. I have attempted to knock out the rudder with bombs torpedoes etc. Could it be programmed to stop dead in water with rudder or XXX# of damage & have cruisers & destroyers circle her? This would be far more realistic.

umm... jamming a rudder wouldnt stop it dead in the water, seeing as it is not the system responsible propulsion

Would be kind of fun though to have a CV in a permanent lock left or right & have aircraft plowing into the tower or off the deck. Would love to hear the whines on that country as to who turned the CV.

last week i had control of a cv.   I had it turning constantly, i was on the bridge on the look out for bombers.  I counted 28 friendlies that went into the water, while i was turning the cv.  and the end I had 7 guys on the deck trying to take off, while people were telling me to turn the cv.  I decided to wait till they took off.  cv got hit, i turned cv again and a single p38 finished it.  I was accused of being an idiot for not turning the cv earlier.  hard to balance keeping people taking off and avoided buffs.  I think it would be one funny crap if the rudder gets stuck on cv and it keeps doing the macarena while friendlies are going into the water.

Duh! I didn't want to write a three page note re: all the possibilities. HTC could decide how much damage and where on the CV would cause which type of damage. I'm sure a 4000lb'er placed just right would stop it dead in the water forcing the destroyers to circle or could easily make the rudder jam left, right, or straight unable to ZIg-Zag...right?  :airplane:
