Title: Virtual Memory

I recently installed a new hard drive on my system (western digital 3.5 internal eide enhanced ide 40gb @ 7200rpms blah blah blah)

I also added more ram (512 sdram). I'm not sure whats related but my virtual memory is stuck at neg thats -28749mb.

Not matter what if I allow windows to manage or if I try to set max min myself always at neg thats -28749mb. File system converted to fat32 of course.

Disk Compression Not Installed

I believe the general rule is to set the swap file at 2.5 times your physical RAM... it's workin' for me.

Have you tried running the diagnostics on SiSoft Sandra?

Wotan: you never said which OS youre running and which the rest of your computer setup is..

If you have an old version of W95 or an old motherboard (even a moderate MB with an old bios with a bug), adding large HD's and RAM sticks can really mess your computer up.

sure i did ripley read again.......  :)

Sandman at 2.4 but dwnloaded Cacheman and tweaked bios a bit..... all is well thnks for replies.
