Title: baaa, need help
Post by: AKHog on June 23, 2001, 06:26:00 PM
For some reason I just lost a ton of fps in AH. The only thing I have changed in the last day or so is putting in the new ram. I went from the stock pc100 128 to crucial's pc133 256. When I did this I notice my destop had that stupid high freq flash, and I knew exactly what the problem was. I went to settings and for some reason the refresh rate had been changed from optimal to 50 hrz. Also i noticed some other refresh rates had been changed from 85 to 50. i changed all these back like i had them before and windoz looks normal, as does ww2ol. Its just in AH I can only get 49-50 fps where as before I always got 84-85. There is probably a setting somewhere i missed but i feel i have looked everywhere  :(. anyone have an idea what the problem is???
Thanks

At least in my display card, the 'optimal' refresh rate is 60hz. This is not what you want.. I set my refresh from 85 to 100hz.

I'm not sure if the optimal setting means best performance, but it sure as hell isn't optimal for the eyes.

If your monitor refresh rate is now 50 when playing aces high and you have vsync enabled, it will limit your maximum fps to 50.

Make sure you run your desktop at 85+ hz and that you run aces high on exactly same settings. Both resolution and color depth.

Changing RAM from pc100 to pc133 won't change anything in your system. You'll still be running your memory and peripherals at 100/66/33Mhz. That means that if you don't overclock your computer, nothing stops you from keeping that old PC100 stick in..

I have 196Mb PC133 and 64Mb PC100 installed in my overclocked 667@901 celeron and it's running with no probs whatsoever.
