Title: Almost made 952 with 566 Celeron
Post by: Toad on June 26, 2001, 02:48:00 PM
After I changed out my PC100 for 512 of PC133 so I could..you know...

I thought I'd see if the old Cel 566 O/C to 850 could make another jump.

My old style BH6 goes from 100 to 112 on the bus in one jump, nothing in between.

At 850 1.5 volts is fine but I found after I went to 112 it would only post. Upped the volts in .5's and finally got into Windows at 1.7v (that's all the ABit bios allows).

Wasn't stable though. So close, yet so far.  :)

Went back to the old 850 sets.

Unless you guys got any ideas???

Get better cooling and probably you'll hit the 950 mark.

I have a 667 which also does 950 but is unstable with orb cooling..

So I run it at 901 with no probs.

If you flash the bios with the SS version you should be able to get the voltage as high as 2.2v.

Jihad,

I am running the SS bios, dated 06/28/00. The website shows nothing newer. Still, I can't get it to set anything over 1.7.

Oz, there's 7 fans in this baby, counting the one on the video card. Runs pretty cool.   :)

7 fans?????

You're not getting higher Mhz probably because your CPU is being distorted by the 130dB the fans are producing LOL.

Go H2O if you want cool ;-)

Let's see.

Standard Celeron Fan

Standard GeForce Vid Card Fan

Aft Power supply fan mounted high sucks out

Front mounted low 80mm sucks in

Side 2 x 80mm fans suck in, mounted low,  blow directly on MB 1 at CPU, 1 at Vid Card

Top opposite side 25 mm Fan sucks air out from above MB.

What can I say. It was an experiment that got out of hand. But it does stay cool.

What about the blow hole fan on top of case ... a good high speed 120 mm should do it.

Now if you just take the whole thing and place it inside a top-loading freezer.  ;)

(If you can actually get a 566 Celeron to run at 952 Mhz I'd be impressed, they weren't exactly the best of the lot for overclocking.  If you are lucky you might squeeze out around 850 Mhz. )
