Title: Perk refund?
Post by: Clone155 on August 26, 2010, 12:07:12 AM
I was wondering if this is even possible? I hear people asking if they can get there perks back if they disco in a 262 or something like that, and I was wondering if HTC even has the capability of doing so? I know they can make a way, but I'm just asking if they already have a way they can do that?

No.   We've all had it happen to us at one time.

No, and this is why.  A disco just means an interruption in the communication between your computer and the server, the game can't identify where that occurred, not that that matters.  If that happened, people would just pull the plug (literally pull out their internet cord.) whenever someone got on their six so they would disco.

Just to clarify, I am not asking for any perks back, I am just asking if it is even possible for HTC to do this.

The primary problem is this, someone ups a perk ride, they get in trouble, they just pull the plug.  No. HiTech will NOT do perk refunds for disco's.  Not in a million years.  :lol

Again, I'm not asking if they will, but asking if they are able to.

I must have close to 20.000 perk points over all categories combined but never use them anyway.

i truly think some do that now as it is. not many mind you, but some.

This is really a non-issue.

Try flying older planes. Find one you like and learn it well. You'll enjoy it more. Then on the rare occassion you get the itch for a jet you'll have plenty of perks.

I fly a 262 maybe once a month just for kicks. I have better than 30,000 perks in the bank.

perks are just like the points on "whose line is it anyway?"

About 2000 or so for me. It seems that whenever I up a perked plane, the connection between my computer and the servers gets real unstable.

Also, CV auto puffy kills me within seconds of the first shells bursting, auto ack hits me at the edge of its range and takes my wing off, or some sprayer gets lucky and nails me with a tater at 1.5k out.

In combat alone I lost perked fighters with a net unmodified worth of 41K perks. Not counting perk losses due to disco, flying my 262 into a mountain with autotakeoff, taking a break from playing or changing my name   :lol

To get them back, simply use a ENY 20-30 plane. All 109s are good perk farmers :)

Hey if the server has registered a ligitimate Disco then why not get your perks back it only fair but hey it just as easy to gain them back again. May take you a couple of days but hey thats what they there for to make you work and play to beable to have enough perks that if you disco then you dont have to worry. My young player think of saving your perks till you reach 20.000 plus then fly jets. And you will find it more enjoyable rather than flying along and thinking oh how can i keep my perk's for this plane. And if you bank and save your perk points you will become a better flyer  :salute  :old:

And what is a legitimate disco?

And what is a legitimate disco?

When you get zero connection but it may be hard to tell the difference i realise that. but hey if the players connectivity speed slowly drops to the point he is discoed then to me that's a legitimate disco but if its a straight out  right disconnection from pressing Alt an F4 then that's player wants to disco isn't it ???

I'm no expert, but the signal that leaves your computer travels through many many obstacles before it gets to HTC's servers.  If any one of these is interrupted, you will loose that link with the server and get discoed.  There is no way for the game to know where that link was broken, whether it be somewhere in Oklahoma, space, or at the back of your computer.  Sure, some people could show a bumpy status before a disco, but that's not always the case, a person can have a "legitimate disco" and be completely cut off.  A disco can be initiated by simply pulling the cable out of the back of your computer (that big phone line, or regular phone line if you're on dial-up).  I don't think Alt+F4 counts as a disco.

I don't think Alt+F4 counts as a disco.

I don't think it does. Even if HTC did refund perks, all it would save you from is possibly yielding a kill (they MIGHT get a proxie, but I don't think they do) to anyone. If I'm up in a perked tank (or aircraft for that matter), and I have to leave on short notice, I'll hit alt+F4 rather than crashing so as to screw someone out of a proxy (or if they land hits on me, a legitimate kill and the resulting perks).

I'm 99% sure a disco or altf4 does NOT rob anyone of proxies or perks on you.

Alt f4 is a crash.  Check text bar it will say u have crashed, and if somebody pinged u, I will also give them a kill.

If you Alt+F4 out of the game and there is a bandit in proximity range, the bandit will get the proxy kill on you.  If you Alt+F4 and you were damaged prior to exiting out of the game, the bandit that shot you up (provided he's still flying) will get the kill.  The only times you will not give out a proxy or credit for the kill is if you loose connection to the host and disconnected.

Many, many years ago I was flying a ME 262 and was discoed immediately after take off and lost the full amount of perks (this was before the perk modifier).  I emailed HTC about it and I got my perks back a couple of days later.
