I downloaded evga precision tuning utility. it works great. but now i see riva tuner statistics server technology. i cant seem t get rid of it and not sure what it is for. It just showed up a couple of days ago and it is linked to evga precision. i tried closing it, but it automatically starts again. any idea how to get rid of it?

I think if you dont have automatic profile management enabled then you probably have framerate monitoring enabled.

The RivaTuner part (never noticed it said RT) is the On-Screen-Display/profile part of Precision. If you enable OSD/Profiles in any way it will enable the OSD/profile management screen that you see.
You'd have to disable all Profiles and OSD options and tell it to not start with Windows to get "rid" of it.

RivaTuner partnered with EVGA on Precision. It is part of the program.

thanks guys got rid of all the profiles and it is gone. still have no idea what it is for, other than taking up resources. I tried reading the manul, but it makes no reference (only 1/2 way there ), anybody knows what its use is?

It allows making custom profiles for games for the On-Screen-Display. It is good if some games you want the OSD to be in one corner but in Game B you want it eslewhere. It also is for some games that detect the way it displays the OSD as a "hack" so you can change how it gets displayed (Application detection level). You can also customize the color/size of the OSD in that.
If you don't need the OSD then you'll be fine without it. I use it to monitor Frame-rate/GPU temp in-games, it can also show time, GPU use, PCB temp and more.

I thought it would jog your memory to hear the "onscreen display" part.
