Just a question for someone that upgrades more then me...
I have an asus p2b motherboard. Currently I have 292 mb of mixed pc100 ram. The mb specs dont say anything about pc133 ram but would the mb take it? I am temted to replace all the ram with 2 256mb pannels.....
Thnks

Doesn't look like it, will probably take it but even if it did would only run at 100.

I looked at that. That was really my question.. will it choke on pc133 or treat it like pc100?
Thanks for the reply fatty.

You looking to buy some memory you can use now and after you upgrade at some later date? If so, I think it should be fine, but I'd hold off ordering some til someone has a more authoritive answer.

It will work, but if your board maxes out at 100mhz front side bus speed, then you will have PC133 memory operating at 100Mhz.
The motherboard will automatically underclock it.
Hell, where I work we have PC133 128MB sticks from Crucial in P200s... PENTIUM TWO HUNDREDS!!!!! That's 66mhz FSB.

Many computer stores in my area have stopped selling PC100 sticks since they PC133 sticks are the same price.
You can use PC133 sticks in a PC100 system with no problems (I do this on my 400MHz Xeon system).

It should work fine, though there have been a few chipsets that absolutely croaked if you tried to put pc133 ram in them. I'd say you have a good chance of it working with that board, just don't try using your old sticks at the same time.
(440Lx for one would not take higher than pc66.)
