I suggest distracting him/her.
I find wearing a short skirt does the trick most times.
If that doesnt work then mooning them on the merge has about a 99% success rate.

Damn...is that what that glare is when merging with you.....I just took it to be the sun through a mountain on a tree covered terrain.  :D
