:salute to The Few, had a lesson in humility today. Those were fun fights, i just dont know how so of yall can make a plane do such things. cya in the air.

A few things to remember about "The Few," from my limited but painful experience:
You will rarely if ever come across just one of them - they are pack hunters and do not believe in the 'nobility' of a 1v1 fight (if there is such a thing as 'nobility' in a cartoon airplane fight), with very little exception. The kill is of paramount importance, and all of what is needed to make that happen is employed (with the notable exception of the HO shot, you will almost never see a member of this group use that tactic :salute ). Don't like to be picked or ganged by as many as 5 or 6 to 1? Stay away. There is no such thing as a 1v1. Not gonna get it. It's a feast and you are are the main course, and the meal is for the whole pack to see who can get it first. Individually, if you can EVER get that rare chance, many/most of them will run to ack or friends as soon as you equalize the fight and they lose advantage. The "A Grade" will have a go at you alone, though I've rarely ever actually caught one alone except for today, when one ran after 3 turns. Oh well, he did have 7 kills in that Tempest at that point. I can hardly blame him. Twice before I have caught one of them in a 1v1 and ended up on the losing end both times, but they were great fights. I extend another :salute to those two guys once again... they are the few among The Few who don't need more than one of The Few to get the job done.
A great fighter score is achieved by taking few chances. Capping a field and vulching those dumb enough to fight back is a great way to improve your k/d. The Few are vulchers of the highest order. No shame there. It is what it is.
Me I'd rather die fighting than live and run, but I understand when you have an image to upold and score is of the utmost importance, you do things a certain way for a reason.
:salute to you guys for the part you play in this game. What that part is is up to you. :)
edit: This is not meant as any disrespect, just a harsh reality check for those among the AH cartoon ranks who haven't been quickly towered by this group - yet. They are without mercy and don't care about what you think is fair in a fight. Are they better than you? 99% of the time yes. Does that mean you're not gonna get dog-piled by the whole pack? Heck no.

This is true. We're a squadron, thus we'll fly together as one.

Hypocrite much? I've lost count when it comes to the amount of times you've dove into the middle of a 1v1, 1v2 or 1v3 which I've been involved in, just so you can pick up a quick and easy kill on me. Anyway, there's no such thing as a noble 1v1 fight in the middle of a furball so you'll never hear me rage about being picked in one.

To me, keeping every single one of my squad mates from being shot down is of most importance. You can't 'ave it large and own everything in the sector with all your boys sitting in the tower. :D

Low on ammo and fuel, I reversed your SpitXVI and missed my shot, I could have continued the fight but the only spot I could put myself in would have been a very, very slow head on merge. I thought it best if I pass up being shot in the face, clear a friend and RTB with him instead, which I did.

Poppy-cock! By the time I get close enough to a base to vultch, all the enemy players have been repeatedly killed so many times that they've moved away to a safer part of the map. :p But seriously, "vultchers of the highest order?"! I'm sure anyone involved in the SDL would ROFL at that statement.

LOL Kazaa, don't let your head get any bigger than it already is, mate. No tears here, I thoroughly enjoy all my fights, losses included. Much to do with why I don't run from them.

I'm honoured that you have mistaken me for someone who has killed you more often than I myself actually have. I'm pretty sure that in the last year and a half that I have had the faintest clue who in Hades you are, I've been credited with 3 kills on the mighty Kazaa, twice by guns and once by proxy when you augered while we were in a hard rolling scissors. The two guns kills were in the middle of furballs and I will say I was lucky on both accounts.
Who you have mistaken me for that has jumped you when you were outnumbered and fighting for your honour I haven't a clue. But good show anyway. LOL
And FYI, I'd guestimate that 90% of the time I've been killed by a member of The Few, it's no where near a furball and MUCH MUCH more of a gangbang. But you call it what you want.

I stayed with him, partly because of dogged stupidity but mainly due to indifference, and wound up oil hit from the field guns. I turned and fought and damm near got an F4U(too much oil on the windscreen and only 1 cannon out of 3 left), then ran out of ammo. I decided to return home only to find him, the ack runner, following me - now he wants to fight. LOL. I was really not impressed ! :rofl

Reaper i can see why your upset but im sure you can take any member of TheFew/DFC besides a select Few and you would not make it into 2 turns just my thought. Also i think you should clear your mind before posting such trash.That so called 2v2 was me and a squadmate in the middle of about 6-7 of your boys and yes we died but when we came back you guys didnt want to up anymore so we had to find more baby seals :salute :salute just so no confusion TheFew were outnumbered that whole time we were at that base not my fault if you want to continue to up at a capped field :D

Since I'm the person you called out in that fight today as always when these things come up it was hardly 2v2, it was 5v2 and I told the other country man (not squad member)can't remember his name to not climb you to you guys that every one of you had altitude on both of us. He didn't listen and was killed instantly, I told him I was diving away from the LA which was you in my P38J and barely made it back to cover. I fly to stay alive and I'm far from afraid of fighting 1v1 as me and B2B had a 1v1 and Vermont had a few from your squad today, my ex-squad mind you. Your hardly mistaken if you think anyone on the few is afraid of a 1v1 and run to ack all the time. I had a lot of 1v1's but that doesn't matter what matters is the truth behind your statement of the 2v2. far from the truth.
Not to mention you ranted on 200 saying I'm lame and blah blah blah and I told you to quit talking on 200 and fly. I'm sure one of the other 71 told you to chill, whatevers wrong with you bud or going on in your life I hope you fix it and get back to normal, this isn't you. :salute

I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to post this recruitment video that I received from a player that was being actively recruited by The Few DFC. This player is an excellent stick and would have made a fine addition to their already impressive collection of “elite” sticks had he decided to join. The fact that he was invited to join their squad and his aversion to accepting the invitation came up on vox one early Sunday morning.
The way it all developed was as follows, the action was slow and we had not seen each other in the cartoon skies in quite some time so we tuned to each other and discussed a variety of topics related to Aces High and real life. Somehow he mentioned that The Few DFC had been trying to recruit him. I congratulated him on such a distinguished invitation and wished him luck in his new squad. He thanked me and then explained that he had declined the invitation. I inquired as to why and he was hesitant to say. I didn’t pry any further because I picked up a bit of uneasiness related to the subject. We moved on and chatted about a few other things then I had to log off and go play golf.
I received a PM on the boards later with the video below attached. He said that he felt like he had ignored my question about why he didn’t want to join The Few DFC and apologized. He explained that he was sending a PM to clear things up. He explained that he had been ready to join The Few DFC. On the day that he decided to join, he logged onto the BBS to send a PM and accept their invitation. When he logged on he noticed he had a message in his inbox. It was a lengthy message from The Few DFC promoting the squad. After singing the praises of their squad, the end of the message read as follows, “And if all of that did not convince you, here is an excellent recruiting video starring three of our most elite members. If you decline after seeing this, then you don’t have what it takes to be in The Few DFC.” I’ll just let you guys see what he saw…

Well as a relative newcomer to this game all I'll add to this is that they are excellent sticks from what I've seen and I don't see them doing a bunch of chest thumping here. I could say the same about most of the top squads in this game. They all seem to have a lot more humility than what I am used to seeing in games like this which is refreshing and part of the reason I enjoy AH so much.

I think standards have dropped in the squad since DrBone went on a recruitment drive and brought all the colonials into the squad :old:
DrBone is a nice chap but he chews gum and plays football with his hands and not his feet.
I did rise my concerns about us being the best looking pilots in the game and the amount of colonials in the squad but my concerns were not taken into account.
If you don't like The Few up yours.
I never have tuned to 200 and have never PM'd anyone for hoing me or crashing into me, which is more than a couple of people in this thread.

:salute to The Few, had a lesson in humility today. Those were fun fights, i just dont know how so of yall can make a plane do such things. cya in the air.
It's always good to have these guys playing for your country as you know they will make it tough for the red guys. Unfortunately it looks like I will be one of those red guys for a while :(
I see nothing wrong with guys flying as a squad & fighting as squad & protecting their squad mates. Isn't that what squads do?
Good luck to you guys as rooks but keep your fighting against the nits please :)

A few things to remember about "The Few," from my limited but painful experience:
You will rarely if ever come across just one of them - they are pack hunters and do not believe in the 'nobility' of a 1v1 fight (if there is such a thing as 'nobility' in a cartoon airplane fight), with very little exception. The kill is of paramount importance, and all of what is needed to make that happen is employed (with the notable exception of the HO shot, you will almost never see a member of this group use that tactic :salute ). Don't like to be picked or ganged by as many as 5 or 6 to 1? Stay away. There is no such thing as a 1v1. Not gonna get it. It's a feast and you are are the main course, and the meal is for the whole pack to see who can get it first. Individually, if you can EVER get that rare chance, many/most of them will run to ack or friends as soon as you equalize the fight and they lose advantage. The "A Grade" will have a go at you alone, though I've rarely ever actually caught one alone except for today, when one ran after 3 turns. Oh well, he did have 7 kills in that Tempest at that point. I can hardly blame him. Twice before I have caught one of them in a 1v1 and ended up on the losing end both times, but they were great fights. I extend another :salute to those two guys once again... they are the few among The Few who don't need more than one of The Few to get the job done.
A great fighter score is achieved by taking few chances. Capping a field and vulching those dumb enough to fight back is a great way to improve your k/d. The Few are vulchers of the highest order. No shame there. It is what it is.
Me I'd rather die fighting than live and run, but I understand when you have an image to upold and score is of the utmost importance, you do things a certain way for a reason.
:salute to you guys for the part you play in this game. What that part is is up to you. :)
edit: This is not meant as any disrespect, just a harsh reality check for those among the AH cartoon ranks who haven't been quickly towered by this group - yet. They are without mercy and don't care about what you think is fair in a fight. Are they better than you? 99% of the time yes. Does that mean you're not gonna get dog-piled by the whole pack? Heck no.

I rarely rarely will resort to the HO, but when I'm on the deck low and slow after just killing a 190D with my P-40E, and I'm bounced by two higher 109K4's, you can bet your arse I'm gonna spray your face if you let me get around on you. If you were there and not just spewing on 200 in this particular case you would have seen that the so-called "HO" didn't even come close and was probably closer to a shot from his slightly low 11 o'clock as he didn't have guns on me and was already nose up and climbing past me to my left. The only reason he whined on 200 about the "HO" shot was that I sent him to the tower with my P-40E, then smoked the other 109K and sent him RTB'ing.
And FWIW, a member of your squad HOed two of my squaddies just an hour earlier in a very similar situation. I don't fault him as he was outnumbered. Save your "holier than thou" attitude, we're tired of hearing it. I'd give a crap about your attempt to get my ire up possibly if I hadn't been continually commended via pm's and thanked for what I posted in this thread, and not mainly by guys in my own squad but from many others. I ignored your taunting on 200 then, but I'll say it here. I laugh at you! :neener:

I know nothing of your squad other than what I read here and on 200. Sometimes the way people come across on squad vox paints them in a different light than the way people see them outside of inter-squad comms. I'm not going to go tthrough the labor of cutting and pasting comments from different threads to reinforce my feelings, but there are a few in The Few who come across to "outsiders" as FAR from humble.
I think it comes down to a hence of jealously from you for whatever reason.

When you have one guy isolated, wingmen tactics aren't necessary anymore, unless you're afraid of losing the fight. It's a given that the second guy will come in and pop the winner after the fight's over, but if it's just a furball, jumping in earlier is dweebish, imo

Reaper I told the country man that we were severely outnumbered and out E to not climb to the other guys. Maybe because you were looking for the two lower cons and not above you, you didn't see the other 4 friendlies but they were there I assure you(directly above you and I, no distance away just above). As soon as I dove down and saw you diving down the other countryman got ganged by 4, I saw him explode. Wish I had kept the video for you to see.

I feel a little better inside about you as a person after reading this post versus some of the others.
My behavior of running to my ack outnumbered and out-E'd doesn't bother me what so ever I'd do it again in a heart beat, if I'd have stayed I'd died like the other guy.
Why do you think everyone looks at us in such a bad way? We practice, critique ourselves, practice some more, do some more critiquing, and fly as a squadron/brothers/and don't want to lose a person when we leave the airfield, is that so bad? It basically boils down to that people get frustrated of dying and decides to take there frustration out on us verbally because they can't do it physically by the game. Every squadron in the game fly's together and kills in mass numbers just 2 days ago I was heading to a fight and bruv was engaged with a Spit - Bruv was in a Ki I believe and I asked him if he was o.k. - he said ya I got this guy so I kept my attitude just like any other squad does - if Bruv was in trouble, yes I would have went down and demolished the guy just like any other squad would have, you protect your own. So whats so different from the way we fly versus any other squad? The honest answer, It's skill level and jealousy from other players. It just takes practice and dedication anyone is welcome to join us in the DA 23, 24 field and fly to improve and once each individual from the squad gets to a certain point in there ACM it makes for fun times in the MA of staying alive and becoming more effective wingman.

I'm amazed this thing still has legs....
So....
1) There are a handful of squads out there that historically are known for both the quality of the individual sticks and the tendency to fly in a group. I've been a member of two such squads before I joined 71 SQD. I know that just like "lays potato chips" I'm rarely going to get just one. I much prefer the squads that "muck it up" vs those that "fly smart" {read high energy blow & go, rinse and repeat}. Personally I find groups like The Few, Muppets, 80th, AK's and others to be great fun to fly against...
2) I think the Fews SDL achievements speak for themselves, talk is cheap so I see no need to posture.
3) Anytime you get guys that are competitive and feel that they got swooped you tend to get hard feelings, anyone who knows me or flies around me even a bit realizes that I almost always work hard to keep guys out of a good fight. i'd rather lose a good fight then "win" a bad one.
4) One of the fundamental differences (not right, wrong, good or bad) between 71 SQD and the other "elite" groups is that we do not emphasize skill set, look for "hot sticks" or even have a formal squad night. We are collectively (in the "opinion of many") a bunch of great guys, not a bunch of great sticks. While many squads have to constantly "recruit" talent we find ourselves constantly looking to slow down so we can maintain a sense of "who we are".
Occasionally this means we lose quality guys like TnDep who feel the need for more or we are forced to kick guys to the curb who feel that being a "hot stick" allows them to be less then a good companion.
I've flown online since the end of Genie/beginning of AW/AOL and been here and gone more then a few times. If not for 71 SQD to fly with and groups like the few and those others above to fly against I'd have hung it up again long ago. At the end of the day who you fly against is almost as important as who you fly with. Personally I'd like to thank not only The Few but all of the other great squads who have provided both me personally and 71 SQD hours and hours of enjoyment :salute

71 Sqd has some of the very best sticks in the game that happen to also be the best natured players in the game. They are a perfect example of why any talk of what squad is best is silly. I'm sure if 71 went on a self-promotion campaign they would be in these gay lists of top squads ppl keep throwing up here. I could list a number of other squads that are in exactly the same situation.
What does "the best" mean anyway? To make such a statement is frickin' stupid. When the AoM beats the DFC in this year long challenge I hope I never see us say we are the best. It just means we won a silly challenge that we made up against another squad that is good at squad duels. There are so many outstanding squads with outstanding, upstanding, low-profile players any list, or declaration of who is the best is myopic and ignorant.

You mis-read. My opinions aren't based on what other have said on the BBS, but what members of your squad have posted themselves. Very different.

maybe you should read back a page or 2 all this talk with Kazaa being uber and bringing up old comments on the boards has upset grizz and forced him to ask Kazaa for a 100 duel i think Grizz's prides hurt which called for the duels. my only question why did he not bring this up when that post was made? just my opinion ;) will be interesting to watch cant wait for Kazaa response :salute :salute

Now that I'm paying attention and noticing things posted on other boards I bet it chaps Kazaa's bellybutton when Grizz wins the gay fighter score thing by just flying around killing ppl and not trying. I noticed it had to be pointed out several times that The Few DFC won the squad fighter spot last tour or the tour before or whenever it was in one of the other forums.
I predict that the DFC portion of The Few will not last very long in its current state. There is a marked emphasis on score and trying to prove something. While that may be fun for a while, it gets old for everyone involved as time passes. Take Twintail's departure for instance. I hope I am wrong.

Actually, I hardly have enough time anymore to win the battle against rust, let alone beat Kazaa consistently. I can beat you without flying for four months, so pipe down choir boy :) My only motivation for actually wanting to do something like that would be because I know how much it would chap Kazaa's pompous bellybutton when he lost. It's not really worth getting 'in form' though, too much stuff to do in RL. I'm glad I decided to show up for a koth this year though so I can at least fly in TOC and get 'legally' ganged by all you dfc guys that helped one another qualify.

Ah yes, the good ol chicken and the egg paradox. The way you've acted since and during our little ventrilo play dates is the reason for my changed attitude. It's a cause and effect relationship. And do not worry, I will not be coming back.
Some food for thought:
The last time we dueled, you convinced me to come in there with you, even though I told you I was rusty and wasn't really in the mood for intense fighting. You seemed to really want to go at it though, OK, so we dueled a few k4s (I think I won) and then we dueled some ungodly number of spit16 fights. You wiped the floor with me, something like 15-5 or who knows what it was. I was trying all sorts of goofy merges, ripping my wings off, shooting like a 2 week newb, and basically flying like one! I didn't mind though, I was having fun, flying in your plane, a plane I never fly, never will fly, and was just mixing it up. Of course, after the fact, when I hear that you were gloating like a high school teenage girl about how bad you owned me, I realized it was never about fun. So, apparently I cannot let my guard down when fighting against you guys. On my end, I might be just mixing it up, trying new things, having fun, but on your end, you are tallying grizz scalps while building a case for your own uberness. I didn't notice at the time, but I should have known it was not for fun when, after you pulled an admittedly awesome reverse snapshot on me in one of the spit16 rounds, you screamed on ventrilo about how awesome you are or something to that effect. At the time I let it go, but it really all makes sense now.

Everybody needs to just relax and do some simple math. In my OP I said 2 10 man duels of 10 duels ea...and 6 duels 8 man ea over that course of the year. That's 8 scheduled duels over the course of a year. Not that difficult to get in and we don't need to do it !This Sunday!
Kazaa, we want these fights to be 8 player mins. 6 is okay for SDL but favors a squad that is top heavy but has an empty cupboard after that. You guys stand a chance 6v6. 8v8 and beyond you guys don't have a prayer.
before u try becoming "a voice of reason" u may want to read the rest of the thread first. the OP was a challenge to the "DFC". in no way, shape or form has anyone given any reason why not to fight the DFC. tell yourself what u need to Rumble, AoM has this in our sleep.
i'm saying that i'm confident in our ability as a squad to overcome whatever challenges arise.
Not at all, the intent for wanting it to be 8 or more guys is to make sure the fights are representative of the two squadrons. A squadron is group of 32 pilots (In the few's case it is a bit more), and the duels should be a representation of squadron strength, not Bruv, Kazaa, and Drbone vs Kappa, grizz, sunsfan, etc. AoM challenged The Few DFC, so that's what the fight should be. 6v6 isn't terribly low, but then again, it isn't very representative of actual squadron strength either. Don't get me wrong, you guys are incredibly talented at the top, but that isn't the point. What I find to be humorous is The Few wanting to limit the pilots that fight, as if they don't want some of their members to participate. The Muppets will put up any member to fight these fights. I guess its just a confidence we have in all of our guys, call it what you will.
And to increase the intensity in the fights we must have alittle bit more then a prayer 10v10 if we had
17 players out 20 still alive after the last two fights and 20 of Aom dead.

I conviced you to come in with me? It's a trap! I asked you, very politely I might add. You did indeed reply with something along the lines of "I'm rusty and not really in the mood for intense fighting." I said something along the lines of "OK, another time maybe?". Low and behold you PM me a few miniutes later and asked if I would still like to duel.
To cut a long story short, we both flew like noobs. I had been away from the game for 3 months playing poker and came back to a spikey stick, you were rusty and missed to many kill shots to count.

You can't blame those that are organized.
The board has been full of 'hording' 'ganging' and other 'unfair' undesireable game play gripes for a while now. While many expect HTC to change some parameter that will fix it, I think the real problem is that Kaos is being turned into order by squads. Squads take bases quickly, and cover each other's sixes, and drag and bag opponents. The response to this has been for more folks to form and join squads. Next time you check the roster, sort by squad and you will see that most of the folks in the arena are in a squad.
The order and coordination a [good] squad provides is very difficult for a single player, or group of un-coordinated players to overcome.
To me, and I've only been playing about a year and a half, the game is evolving into squad vs Squad and the single players are having more and more of a rough go. When I fly with my squaddies, kill ratio is 2:1 or 3:1. When I fly around by myself it's more like 1:1. [note to self....Fly around with Squad more]
I think some squads are just better at...well...being a squad than others. :salute

A few things to remember about "The Few," from my limited but painful experience:
You will rarely if ever come across just one of them - they are pack hunters and do not believe in the 'nobility' of a 1v1 fight (if there is such a thing as 'nobility' in a cartoon airplane fight), with very little exception. The kill is of paramount importance, and all of what is needed to make that happen is employed (with the notable exception of the HO shot, you will almost never see a member of this group use that tactic :salute ). Don't like to be picked or ganged by as many as 5 or 6 to 1? Stay away. There is no such thing as a 1v1. Not gonna get it. It's a feast and you are are the main course, and the meal is for the whole pack to see who can get it first. Individually, if you can EVER get that rare chance, many/most of them will run to ack or friends as soon as you equalize the fight and they lose advantage. The "A Grade" will have a go at you alone, though I've rarely ever actually caught one alone except for today, when one ran after 3 turns. Oh well, he did have 7 kills in that Tempest at that point. I can hardly blame him. Twice before I have caught one of them in a 1v1 and ended up on the losing end both times, but they were great fights. I extend another :salute to those two guys once again... they are the few among The Few who don't need more than one of The Few to get the job done.
A great fighter score is achieved by taking few chances. Capping a field and vulching those dumb enough to fight back is a great way to improve your k/d. The Few are vulchers of the highest order. No shame there. It is what it is.
Me I'd rather die fighting than live and run, but I understand when you have an image to upold and score is of the utmost importance, you do things a certain way for a reason.
:salute to you guys for the part you play in this game. What that part is is up to you. :)
edit: This is not meant as any disrespect, just a harsh reality check for those among the AH cartoon ranks who haven't been quickly towered by this group - yet. They are without mercy and don't care about what you think is fair in a fight. Are they better than you? 99% of the time yes. Does that mean you're not gonna get dog-piled by the whole pack? Heck no.

Well Said +1 :aok You stand a better chance with a few trusted souls watching your back.. Some of those squads are just plain good at what they do.. I have had the pleasure of watching a few of Grizz's films , and I must say that those guys are tuned in very well. I am sure that The Few are the same way. If I run across those guys, I will surely die, but still enjoying the game.. I can only hope to get that good.. Still trying.. :salute

The simple fact of the matter is this, and take this from an ex/inactive member who knows many of the "old skool" as well as some of the newer guys. The squad has become more and more social, both ingame and out of it, the bottom line is they are a community, they enjoy flying with each other and tactically we enjoy air superiority through well managed winging and tactics. None of the guys I know are arrogant or bigheaded and certainly NOT score ho's either, in fact many of them aren't overly fussed about the scoring.
After reading this thread I have felt saddened by some of the comments in it. This bunch of players in my opinion is one of the best most sociable, DEDICATED groups one could wish to be a part of and for a long time it was them, the people in that squad that kept me subscribed to this game, and it's also those same people that I would come back for if I ever did re-sub.
All the whining in this thread should really just stop, Don't hate the playa, hate the game!
