Just watched Paranormal activity, it scared the crap out of me. Any movie with poltergeists in it makes my hair on my neck bristle. The things you don't or can't see in horror movies are the only things that get to me. In fact the first poltergeist film is the only horror film that always makes me jump.

I had seen this movie, Paranormal Activity. It didnt make me jump out of my seat. Rather, it just freaked me out a bit.
The movie that really scared the piss outa me was Excorcism of Emily Rose. That was something I had nightmares when I went to bed that night.

I like em, but for maximum creepiness I need to relate to the era its set in. Stuff with everyday people and /or families doing everyday stuff. Sequels nearly always spoil the ideas too, for example Jaws was so good coz you didnt see much till the end. The rest sucked. An exception is the Alien franchise, 1st film was by far the scariest, 2nd was great coz despite of all the high-tech gear and cocky badazz marines they get all torn up.

Just read this. You may find it interesting. I never knew that movie was based on a true story.

yea, but you gotta watch some of the old vincent price movies....or although not horror........the old sherlock holmes movies. THEY were good at messing with your head.

try looking for some of the old edgar allan poe movies with vincent price.
the pit and the pendulum, the masque of the red death, the raven, the black cat, the house of wax, the house on haunted hill(the original from 58), the tingler, the fall of the house of usher.......
vincent price was probably the best horror movie actor of all time, rating slightly above bela lagosi, lon chaney, and boris karloff. look for some films by all of them too.
back then, they were very good at mind frelling the audience, and scaring the audience with what they implied, and didn't show you.
price reading edgar allen poe.....this i think was shortly before he passed, as he looks pretty old there..........but you get the point though.......

Interesting, sounds like schizophrenia to me.

For good general creepyness it's awfully hard to beat In the Mouth of Madness, and another of my all time favorite horror movies, John Carpenter's The Thing, with Kurt Russel, it's just great.
I have always deeply loved zombie movies, but they're not really scary to me, just awesome.
Of the Exorcist movies, the 3rd one with George C Scott and Brad Dourif was always my favorite. It was written and directed by Robert Bloch, the writer of the first movie. Good stuff.
