I say we kick the tree huggers to the side and just drill in alaska....there is a oil reservoir there that has enough fuel to feed the U.S for 100 years, but they dont wanna drill cause part of it is a "Nature Preserve"

Oil spills are no funny matter. i say drill in bigbobs backyard and dont compensate him for the trouble we caus ein his hood. if you had some education you would understand what and why A.N.C.S.A was made years ago. I hope that oil doesnt flow like BPs latest incident, <S> to the people living in the gulf. ALASKANS havent been compensated for the EXXON valdez oil spill years ago, not 1 penny given to the fishermen for missing out on making money from fishing.

Oh, and when you think of how much oil prices would drop if we drilled in alaska I doubt you would say that.  Gas prices would probably drop to 2 bucks a gallon since we dont have to ship it across the ocean....and spend millions of bucks of gas there and back!

Greens, BigBOBCH  he has no idea what he is talking about. He just
regurgitates talk-radio points

For example. Electrical energy. When has the price ever fallen after
a community has been talked into approving project "xxxx" and with
the bait that it would lower their electric rates? It hasn't.

Drill in Alaska and the cost to the consumer will remain the same. The
public will continue to get jerked around by them as they have ever since
they forced us into being dependent on their oil. In the meantime profits
for big oil will go from asininely big to ludicrously huge. When they
eventually cause a major, ecological disaster some retarded Representative
from Texas will apologize to them and call it a day

One rig exploding with no warning is a possible accident. Two exploding like that is starting to sound like sabotage. They are very vulnerable and easy targets.

yah, once i heard of this second rig going down, I immediately thought that.

Bob, please stop being a numpty, remember Valdez? Alaska is fine with out more oilspills

This new one is only in 340 feet of water.  Even if it DOES start spewing oil like the BP rig, it'd be a much easier fix.

Do you not take into consideration that we drill at alaska and there is no more shipping required? Right there that is MILLIONS of gallons a gas every year saved.

The tree huggers are the excuse.  Let me ask you a question.  If it is true that the US has the oil deposits every one thinks they have,  what happens if you go out and buy oil from every one else at a high price and not using yours.  Bad right?  Wrong!!!!  If it is true that oil will eventually run out, what happens when you pay to use every one else s deposits and they run out, but now the only country with oil deposits is the one that did not use them?  Absolute world power right?  No one has oil, except the US.

Do you still think the US and other big powers are not using their deposits because they are worried about trees?  :lol  They could care less about human life, you think the trees and the tree huggers are stopping them?

PS Bigbob, the cost of drilling in Alaska almost outweighs the current benefit. In order to make a profit from Alaskan oil, gas prices would have to be above $4. It is in a harsh environment, you would need special equipment to first dig through the permafrost, then prevent it from melting around your equipment (causing your expensive machinery to sink into mud).

I don't know where you got the 100 years of oil from, the last estimate I saw was it could last the state of California 3 months, if that were their sole source of oil.

Then again when you only get information from one source, you tend to not know all of the facts.

It had been confirm, oil is spilling out and on fire.  Rig is not Bp but a company out of Houston

I wish alaskans in the bush would have same prices as down states, seems to me that down states is farther than my village ELIM is than compared to new york or florida, then why in the hell are us alaskans paying more for gas and oil when they get it from here? OH i know now, they get it from alaska bring it to valdez then tanker it ALLLLL the way down there and refine it then bring it back up to alaska and charge us 10 times more than they paid for it. hmmm sumtin fishy there. eventually alaskans will lose our land to drilling. theres so much rules n regulations now, cant even go hunt my native food without a piece a paper saying i can hunt it. GOD i hope they stop that leak in the gulf fast. they dont need more oil in their waters, i feel bad for the fisherman and people who live there.

Damn right they shouldn't drill anymore, look at the Gulf.   The whole Ecosystem is jacked for God only knows how long.   But yeah, keep drilling.   BTW, wherever you received the "100 years" info, is completely FOS.

Whos word you taking over common sence?  There is a pipeline in Alaska that moves oil from the north side of the state to the south side.  The pipeline does not feed oil magicly from one side of the continent to the other and into your gas tank.  It will still need to be shipped down the fragile pacific northwest coast unless you want to slip the Canadians in on a fat cut of the profit (and under your plan, half through Panama or alternatively right under the Argentine nose, which should be a hoot if things keep going the way they are in So. America) rather than the middle of the atlantic or pacific to our oil refineries by mass shipping via super tankers.  Still gonna be floating on the ocean in a ship somewhere for 1-2 weeks on the way to an American refinery, but instead of cheap and under-regulated foreign tankers and crews it will likely be all North American tankers and crews... a good thing in all departments across the board except one, costs of transport and the endcost that it takes to the pump and end-user.  From there shipping, storage and processing costs remain exactly the same.

No one listens when a man like Hugo Chavez calls for an all out war against our oil industry. Now I would think he and his terrorist buds imported from the middle east will be drawing a lot more attention. Now it should be obvious why the administrations first move after the first event was to send SWAT teams to 'investigate.'

Hopefully its just a very coincidental accident.
