Anyone running this? If so, what are the pro's/con's of this one?
Looking for something to do besides AH (nothing will replace AH for me tho)
Thankee in advance,

Not sure about Free Falcon, but I've heard it tones down realism a tad (might be completely wrong, but I read it somewhere) replacing it with better graphics. I have Falcon 4.0 Allied Force currently, and have been strugling to get away from it. Once you get the various radar modes, navigation, t/o and landing, and weapons down it's a blast. Beware though, it might take a few weeks to get the said basics down, but the reward is well worth it. The campaign is fantastic with 2 theatres (Korea and Balkans) and 6 operations to choose from , with radio chatter non-stop, a ranking system as in actual Air Force, a battle that is not pre-set and is affected by your gameplay, and many missions to choose from. I would highly recommend it to you as a change of pace.
PS: Just got my first A-A kill in campaign today.

I played a lot of 3.0 way back in the day, and I got 4.0 as soon as it came out. I even still have the 3" thick spiral bound manual.
I've struggled to learn it many times over the years, and for some reason I always get part way into it and then get busy with something else and it all fails to sink in. TonyJoey is right, that Allied Force update they did to it looked awesome. I'm super tempted, but I don't know if it's wise for me to dig into it. If you want an F-16 game, that's the one to get.

Downloaded, and setting up - not sure what most of it means lmao, but I'll have a play around.
For those who are interested, found it here:- http://www.freefalcon.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17580 (http://www.freefalcon.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17580)
There is also a cockpit pack you need before playing (or I may have had a blue screen of death at the most inopportune time)
Thanks TJ, 68Hawk, appreciate your info.

Noob! :D
F4AF is the way to go for a stable game but it seems like FFis the one every goes too.

I found AF a bit 'samey' ( that deadly AK47 round of death), I wish I could run Open Falcon but it always crashes on me (I've narrowed it down to my GPU which is Nvidia) but FF5 is terrific, check out the clouds, I just wish I wasn't senile and could remember all the commands. :)

Sorry, a bit confused. Is FF5.5 a standalone Sim? Or an expansion to Falcon 4.0?
-
Standalone Qrsu - took me a while to find that out (I"m not the smart at times).

Wicked! Gonna give it a go this afternoon.

Don't suppose anyone has a basic setup for an X-52? :lol This is overwhelming.
-
Tell me about it, took me over 2 hours to get my set up started - one useful thing, if your throttle isnt being picked up, go into setup, advanced, flight controls, and pick the z axis for your flight controller - that will make the throttle the default. Also, if you use track ir - there is a slider for pov sensitivity - I had to play with that to get track ir to move somewhat smoother (its still a bit jerky, so still more to do)

Found a page dealing with x52 profiles with extra links as well

Hope this helps,

Thanks Wurzel, checking it out.
Having an issue atm with my controller mapping resetting after each flight. :furious
-
had that too, you have to save it, and load it up - done in the set up screen, bottom right.
Frustrating isnt it lol....

Yes it is very frustrating. I get everything set up to a bearable setting that works for one sortie and then it just reverts to default (throttle, views, etc...).
I keep saving it to a profile but regardless... It reverts back to default when I load it. :headscratch:
Puzzled beyond belief. Wondering if I'm missing something critical here.

Just read in the manual you have to create your profile first, otherwise the game wont know who to assign the controller specs to. After you've done that, you can save your controller settings etc.....

Yeah, I think I've finally started to make the settings stick. Thanks. :aok
Gonna have to try and learn to fly it after I get back from work.
