Google has gone insane with all its flash based chrome junk...
Does anyone know a way to turn off all that junk and just go back to plain html version ?

yeah the wall of pictures bizness is retarded

Less is more.
Garbage "improvement."
-
I personally like the new image search, more images easily visible by scrolling.

The thumbnail pop up junk is driving me crazy (crazier...I am already crazy as a loon)...
What really ticked me off was today's absolutely ridiculous dancing dots Logo thing that reminded me of a Twister Game sheet after too many cocktails...
Please...
Do we really need spiraling circles that eventually coalesce into a search engine logo just to use that engine....
Distracting and stupid beyond belief....
At least the Google genius's could have at least planted a cookie called: OurStupidFlashLogoHasRunOnce. ... then when you refresh the page you don't get the ACID trip spiraling and dancing dots again...
Google is beginning to remind me of those cars some people drive like early Monte Carlos that have 26" rims and truck nuts and vinyl and chrome and bling and and spinner rims...
-
Glad to see I'm not the only one who hates it. When you are looking through the images there's a link on the bottom of the page that says "Switch to basic version", click that for the old interface.
-
Oh dear god, thank you Tec. The damn thing was driving me insane. Google pulled off a massive fail with this.

But that only works for the current (ie immediate session)....
Stupid thing does not remember the setting...
I loaded a scripting engine into Firefox to kills the Image pop up thumbnail I am from Las Vegas - Just in from Mardi Gras Google Junk...
Still haven't found a script to kill the flash and java animations on the home page they seem so certain the public wants...
Potential Quote of the Day; "Why do you think they call it Google Chrome?"
The next thing I am expecting to see are dancing panda bears and "Spare the Air Day" warnings dashing in out with perfect fade precision...advising me that if I 'Que up a T-bone I will be destroying the planet....
:rofl
-
Oh come on, so what if Google does something fun now and again? Its not going to stay that way forever, and if you google hard enough I'm sure you can find a boring front end in the mean time.

I hate the new image search. Unfortunately there is no way to permanently switch to classic view until the the page loads the bottom buttons. It won't do that until it completely loads the first page. If you're not on broadband it can take over a minute to load. I've started using Yahoo for image searches.
When will companies learn that new and improved gizmos (like arena balancing) isn't always what the customer wants?

THANK YOU for this thread.....I though I was the only one.

I wouldn't be supprised oneway. All of this "we're killing the planet, but we can stop it if we reduce our carbon footprint" and the like. IMO, we're killing the planet because there's so damn many of us.
Honestly, I think we need to stop trying to cram so many functions into one program, search engine, or piece of hardware. Also, we should stop changing the shape of the one little chip that makes the new piece of tech different from the older one. If you're so concerned that you won't be albe to keep a 5th house in tahiti if you do that, then just charge more for the new chip.
Just found out that my new computer had only one different or upgraded component over my 9yr old one that recently died.

It sucks I know but better than nothing. There is also a give us feedback link there as well, wouldn't hurt to send them a few lines about what you don't like about the new system.
-
Have any of you sent Google a problem report and told them how slow and crappy the new search is? Unless you let them know you don'y like it they will never make changes. I've sent several.

Ya right....
Your notion is spot on...however their is a catch...
Do a Google Search (The Irony is Delicious) of : "New Google Image Search Sucks"...
Or: "Turn Off Google Chrome"
Or: "Stop Google Chrome"...
=============
Now of course Google controls the output of the search and invariably your linked back to posts by and from its staff stating the following canned talking points garbage:
"Instead of complaining about it tell us how we can make it better"...
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
So let me get this straight ???? We have a steaming pile of dog krap sitting in the middle of the living room, and the dog that made it is asking "US" how we can make his steaming pile smell and taste better...
Go ahead and post on their feed back....if your so inclined...
However...I think the public airwaves such as this are a better place to vent...and the web is full of angst over this latest "improvement"...
Maybe their filtering algorithm on: "Google 'has created a vacuum condition at their oral interface'" will blow a gasket...
Google is screwing up what got them where they are...
-
They are going the metallica route.
They made their mark one way and moving away from success.
Google was a simple great search engine then they started adding fluff.
Metallica used the net to build their fan base then attacked their fans.

Concerning Google Chrome: I installed it, used it for one day and then kicked off my hard-drive. I am happy with Firefox.
Concerning Dancing Dots Logo:
Quote: The Washington Post (10/8/2010) http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fasterforward/2010/09/another_day_another_goofy_goog.html
Another day, another goofy Google logo
For the second day in a row, Google's home-page logo doesn't just sit there. But instead of turning into a sort of "follow the bouncing ball" game as Tuesday's animated logo did, today's version simply changes color from gray to its usual hues as you type a query, one letter at a time.
The reason for all this fuss should be apparent at 12:30 Eastern today, when the Web firm has scheduled a press conference in San Francisco to announce something new in search technology. Reports--see, for instance, those from Business Insider and Google Operating System--point to the arrival of "streaming search," in which Google displays search results matching your input as you type them, instead of simply suggesting matching search terms as you enter a query. I have only one thing to say >>>>>>>>>>>> K.I.S.S.!!!!!
-
Well they now have unveiled their newest distraction as you stated...
Its more infuriating than ever...
As I type the whole search window jumps on off, in and out, based EACH single key stroke in the search box...
What was BAD is now Horribly worse...
Its ridiculous to say the least...
Monumentally stupid

Yep, this new 'read your mind search' is annoying. What happens if I'm googleing something like "Sextant" in front of a bunch of people but have a hard time finding the T button?
-
Congrats google, you now fail even harder than ever.
-
opens the door for someone to come up with a new search engine that isn't as annoying

Believe what you want, but I picked it up at the bookstore a few months ago to have a nice big book to take on summer camping trips. The lady at the counter asked me how I liked the series and actually yelled at me because I was starting the series with this book. :furious

Happily enough, I just use the search bar built into FireFox. I suppose I could NoScript it all if I REALLY felt the need.
Do note that you can turn off predictive searches in the search settings (http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en). If you have an account, it sticks. If not, it just drops a cookie.

mine is unchanged. Its still the same basic google page as it has been for me for over a year now
