Title: AH with FSAA (ge-force owners)
Post by: bigred on May 21, 2000, 12:38:00 AM
hi all...

i haven't posted over here in a while but simply could'nt keep my mouth shut...

if any of you have ge-force cards and feel brave... grab the beta 5.22 detonator drivers which now support full screen anti-aliasing (FSAA) in d3d games..
 www.3dchipset.com (http://www.3dchipset.com)

i just tried it on AH and OMYGOD!!!, it makes an already stunning game DROP DEAD BEAUTIFUL...

for some strange reason, i didn't get nearly the framerate hit i saw in other d3d games...perhaps AH engine is more "friendly" toward the drivers than others....

hmm... FSAA - sounds very good... just downloaded the drivers... but waaaaaaahhh they do not work:

Win98 does not boot anymore after I installed the drivers (and yes I followed the instructions via PCI standard grafic adapter)... just after it says "Windows being loaded" (well I got the german version so I do not know what's it in english) it stops loading... nothing happens. Though I can load windows in saftey mode. Can somebody help me??

system specs:
PIII500/128MB RAM
ELSA ErazorX (GeForce 256)
Gigabyte BX6S mainboard
Soundblaster Live!

kirin, i am running a geforce DDR on win98 (us edition)... with no probs....

the only i can think of is to make sure you installed the "win9x" drivers and not the ones designed for windows 2000 "w2k"

if worse comes to worse, when in safemode, change your video driver back to VGA, then reboot, then change them back to your original geforce drivers... no harm done...

I am back on my ELSA drivers now... couldn't get 5.22 to run - windows just stops loading...  maybe it's the SDR which I "only" got - but nothing on troubleshooting about that...

Well - so I have to live without FSAA, but hey, soon 1.03 will be out and then I get real 3D with my Revelator glasses: who needs FSAA, who needs icons......    (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

kirin  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

is your monitor able to bring the 120hz? i thought about bying this glasses too, but my monitor ends up at 85  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) so i fear it will make no sense. and i don`t want to go back to the low resolution.

Heya Ibreh

no problem here... 120 at 1024, 160 (or something) on 800 - got a Samsung 900 P somthing - 19" - very pricey monitor - got 20% off for students   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)  - only draw back: it tends to do a slight moiree pattern (but maybe my loudspeakers)

Really waiting for Z-Buffer here - the effect in MigAlley is amazing - EAW works quite well but icons disturb and the cockpits are ugly... I think it will rock in a NO-Icon enviroment - yah one more thing: real "3D" sight!!

Hi guys,  I just asked about some of this stuff in aonther thread.

I just picked up the 3D Rev glasses last weekend and ..... WOW! .....

1. What's preventing them from working in Aces High?  Z-Buffering Support?

Obviously out of the loop.

yeah arrow excactly... z-buffer - which the revelators need... but as it seems we will get z-buffer in 1.03!!! I asked HT a long time ago about z-buffer and he said that the glasses were one of the reasons to get z-buffer running! Now we only need an iconless enviroment and here we go in full 3D!!
