Do you think a "disappearing gun" (often called a "disappearing carriage") which is a type of heavy (mainly coastal) artillery for which the gun carriage enabled the gun to rotate backwards and down into a pit protected by a wall (the parapet) or a bunker after it was fired, would be good in the game?

I'm thinking the aircraft guys would LOVE to see a coastal defense gun sans the bunker it
is currently in. Especially with the ammo in the open :D
-
:huh When this form of coastal artillery was in use.......... There was no such thing as flight.

Um, 1941 was before flight? The fort at Corregidor island had 12 inch disappearing carriage
guns as well as mortars. I believe San Francisco had a pair of 16 inch guns that they test fired in 1940-41
as well. Since bombing was started in earnest in 1916-7, I'd say you are wrong.

But you're looking at things from the wrong perspective. When were the guns at Corregidor and San Francisco installed?
Before the advent of offensive aircraft perhaps? When the primary threat was from surface vessels?
Some of those guns dated from the turn of the century on the coasts of the U.S.
The Disappearing Guns at San Francisco were installed in 1905. Corregidor's gun installation began in 1904 and was compleated in 1914.

Don't get mad at Rino.... It's not his fault he doesn't read, look or investigate......... :salute
EDIT: Why bother fixing, if it's already been quoted. Oh well. Rino, just trying to get under your skin a little, no disrespect.

and also, besides the pre historic date of these things, is there any record of any counrty firing a shot in anger with one of these peices during ww2, if not, thats that right there, if we were to get specialized guns though, I would like to see rail road guns in AH, would swing with the train yard idea too :aok
