Don't bother. Buy yourself a cheap Celeron and a slotket and overclock that. Total should be well under $100.
Late model Celerons can easily reach 600 MHz.

Hi Mason 22,
Well, to answer your question in a word, ZIP!!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) Dont bother, PIIs dont handle O/Cing well at all. Their L2 cache doesnt cut it.
The good news is that you have a decent MoBo in the BH6 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Go to Abit and D/L the latest BIOS rev for that board and go get one of the new Coppermine Celeron 566 CPUs for about $120.00 US and pop it in, set the SoftMenu to 100mhz FSB and you got a seriously fast (8.5x100=850mhz)machine (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
There simply is no better $/mhz option to compare with that (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Virtually all of them will hit 850 out of the box with stock Fan/HS. I know many people who have made this exact upgrade and are thrilled with the results. Of course, you will then probably need a new video card to go with your screaming monster box now but that's another story... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Check out AGW H&S Forum for posts regarding this with full details about BIOS upgrading and other compatability issues.
Good Luck!!

Dont know what kind of RAM you are using but if you have a P2-266 it is possibly 66mhz SDRAM. B4 thinking of O/C the purchase of 100 or even better 133mhz RAM would be a good investment.

Be sure to check on your ver.# ! There is a ver 1 and a Ver 1.1 ( White Label on the ISA slot will tell you what you have)
Most of the newer Bios Flashes are for the Ver. 1.1
Good Luck

I'd recommend buying what's called a "Slocket" or slot1 to ppga converter board. This allows you to use a celeron processor. I upgraded my old PII 266 to a Cel 466 using one of these cards with no problems at all. This is by far the most cost effective way to upgrade your processor.
In addition many of these slockets have overclocking jumpers that allow you to set CPU voltage and bus speed built right onto them. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Others will even allow you to run dual celerons in motherboards that support two processors.
(Side note: VERY IMPORTANT You will need to keep your PII around because you won't be able to do a BIOS upgrade with the slocket/celeron installed.)

when i was trying to get speed about 470
(or sth like that if memory serves) by changing bus speed my HDD (Seagate Medalist) worked really strange. In first boot everything worked ok but after restart
my disk losing some files (not all) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
no idea why (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) so be prepared for it
i wish ya luck

I had a P2-266 before, it overclocked to 333 (4.5x75) easily. I didn't even need an extra fan. It booted fine at 350 but it wasn't stable in games anymore.
Depending on the date of manufacture, your P2 might have the multiplier locked, in which case you can only change the bus speed.
Before you make a perhaps hasty purchase of a new cpu, I recommend you try to o/c your 266.
Good luck! (But don't blame me if it blows up in your face! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) )
