Agreed, that cursor is huge!

In your Aces High floder is the file (cursor.bmp) you can always make it smaller. Just make a backup copy first incase of boo boos. The file is 32x32 pixels 8bit with a magenta background. keep a one pixel magenta border. The mouse hotspot is in the upper left corner.

Or you could customize it so you can use it as a gun sight. Its a straight forward procedure to use the target option and work out  impact points for various ranges. Im sure you recognize that several 'gamier' individuals are already doing this.

You talking in GVs as there are plenty of sights out there that have been specialized to have specific marks on them (such as boxes for air to air / ground impact points). Since the game already gives distances away by default when in a plane, how would it be "gamier".  :salute

Here's (http://users.kymp.net/joonas.konttinen/cursor.bmp) the cursor that was in the game until the new version. I knew I still had the terrain update beta on my HD for a reason. :)

Remember to backup the new one just in case.

I too like the larger pointer.  My mouse sometimes gets a mind of its own and runs the pointer off the screen to the right or down.  I would have to drive it into the upper left corner to locate it again.  With the larger size it is easier to spot when it comes back in view.

Having a 1080p display, the mouse cursor is fine.

Thank you Wmaker.  I was hoping someone would post this.   :salute
That big thing was gonna screw up my FRAPS vids.

Interesting take, considering the Aces High Trainers Corps webpage has an article entitled "A View to Kill" that suggests to do just that.  A small piece of see through tape on the monitor would work also.

on the upside it did cure my mouses hyperactivity... perhaps I'll change it to a crosshair.  Then I can hit SOMETHING I aim at

i'm glad  HTC is taking a caring approach to the increasing age of the community by making things easier to see.

Next up,   Instrument dials x2     :D

I modified it quickly last night and found that Windows 7 Paint (which is all that's on my game system) makes a real hash of it.  The magenta border that's the transparent color in the original became a magenta border around the mouse pointer.

Anyway, here's the old one, fixed for AA by Knite a while back. http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,293899.msg3751524.html#msg3751524

Just save it into your Aces High directory.  (And somewhere else I'd suggest to, in case it again gets overwritten by Piggy the Porky Pointer in the future.)  Just to be safe, rename Piggy first, though.

The arrow is in the top left side in paint if I do a crosshair it would be off of center in game I tried it?

Only the hotspot - the part of the mouse you need for clicking items.  The graphic itself is what people use to help with lining up shots and stuff, and that would still look centered.

yea but how do I make the center of crosshair lined up for clicking too?

With a real mouse cursor editor thingy.  I'm sure there's something out there for free if you search for one.

Quick search:
download.com (http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=mouse+cursor+editor&searchtype=downloads&rpp=10&filter=licenseName=Free|platform=Windows,Webware&filterName=licenseName=Free|platform=Windows,Webware&tag=contentNav;navForm)

Problem is, I'm pretty sure HTC has special coad to take whatever graphic you give and make it act like a cursor, which means you probably have no control over where the hotspot is.

The answer is to not make a crosshair, make an L.

The upper left hand corner on the mouse pointer is the aim point.
So make a custom one that has a vertical line down the left side, a horizontal line across the top, and a angled line from upper left to lower right.

Gives you a handy dandy mouse pointer that has a nice clean point for aiming.
Also you can make it vivid green, purple, etc for visibility.

Just want to say I hate the new pointer. Couldn't they make the pointer size an option instead of forcing customers to hack the program files to fix it?

The big mouse wouldn't be that big a deal if it would go away when there is nothing to click on the screen. Falcon 4 handles this well, even with its clickable cockpits: the mouse hides if you don't move it for a few seconds.

I don't think what happened with the new mouse cursor was intentional.

This is just rumor...but I heard that the old mouse cursor ate some of the new genetically altered Atlantic Salmon and it interacted with the Viagra the old cursor was taking...and...well...you see the result!
