Title: vid card upgrade
Post by: ebfd11 on September 16, 2010, 02:03:00 PM
Ok gents I forced myself to upgrade my vid card. I am going from dual 9800 GTX + 512's to a pny 470 vid card. Is anyone using the 470 and what do they think of it?

:headscratch: Does it matter if you already bought it?  :headscratch:

(My last iteration I switched to ATI, and couldn't be happier.  This is despite vowing never ever ever ever ever ever ever to buy an ATI video card again a number of years ago, when user written drivers were actually more stable than the official ones measured in driver crashes per hour of game play.)

I got the 465.  Full frames everything on. 470 shouldn't be any different.

Well I haven't had the chance to install it yet so that is why I was asking.

Well I had the chance to install the card and all I can say is WOW!!!!

Hi-res pack installed, textures set at 2040 and all eye candy turned up and on. I get a steady 60 FPS even in a 30 plus furball.

AA slider is at the max and still no loss.

Here is the card I bought, the only problem I have is the fan to cool it is on the wrong side IMO.
