Google Star Map does the same thing.  My best app is my APP Killer.  Keeps my battery usage low.  Samsung Galaxy S (Fascinate)

Oh hey, I've got to get that!

The last update I received yesterday seems to have helped my iPhone.

My poor poor dear old old poor squaddie... :neener:
Not only do task killers NOT increase battery life, they will hurt it as they kill an app that will simply keep opening everytime it's killed.  Google released information finally to address the myth once and for all http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/04/multitasking-android-way.html (http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/04/multitasking-android-way.html)  Here's another source, http://howto.ccroms.net/ongoing/android_myths (http://howto.ccroms.net/ongoing/android_myths)
They have a purpose, killing poorly written rogue apps.  But do nothing other than decrease battery life, and waste a few megabytes of memory.
