Title: GREAT FIGHT V66
Post by: TEXAS20 on September 18, 2010, 12:08:28 AM
I tangled with a G14 over V66 late in the frame. What a great fight! I jumped him and he made me overshoot then i turned things on him. Over and over we changed positions until i was forced to run by a second 109. i tried to run home but was jumped by 4 or 5 109s and got spanked. Who ever the 109 was <S> sir! That has to be in the top 5 best fights for me! Nice flying!  :salute That kind of fight is the reason I keep paying my 16 bucks!

That was me. I kept the film it was indeed an amazing fight. I've never tangled with a guy for 10 minutes in an FSO before.  :salute

The 4 or 5 other 109's were my squad catching up.

As you said, Great fight, sir. Fights like that are rare indeed. <S>

I also had a fun little fight with a D-25 in my K4 early in the frame. IT didn't last nearly as long but friendlies asked if I was OK and I just said yes, not knowing my fate as I was missing an elevator. The fight dragged on for about 2-3 minutes as I struggled to get my K4 to turn with the D25. I missed a couple shots and got lucky as he missed his too. I caught a break and hit his wing with a tater, I hesitated on even taking the shot, but I figured it was death if I didn't.

<S>Spikes,

I really didn't want to be down there :uhoh.  At that time I was trying to get Blutik cleared so we could run North, but he seemed to be a K4 magnet.  I cleared him once, knocking a piece off of a K4 which broke toward the base (was that you Spikes? didn't film).  I pull up my map and find north again and start going that way and look for Blutik and Rayl49.  Rayl49 got shot down just as I looked his direction and Blutik had another K4 on him.  I tell him to hang on I'm coming, but got shot down before I got there.  Then I realize I'm alone in enemy territory again in a P47 low on the deck and not very fast with everything around me able to outrun and outclimb me :(  I figured I was probably dead meat at this point, and tried to escape but it didn't take long for Spikes K4 to run me down.  I had to start climbing even to get enough alt to slice back into him as he closed.  I was glad to see I was dealing with only 1 K4 at this time since there were more nearby.  We eventually ended up in a semi flat scissors, mine was flat, he had enough power to use some verticle.  Both of us had shots, and I'm sure we were both wincing when we saw them coming from the other guy :lol.  Was a fun fight :aok.  I broke my own rule with a 15k hard deck with this plane (only good quality is diving ability and firepower :lol), but you have to try and save your squaddies, even if it does put you in a bad spot :lol

With Five guys left at T+60 we executed  “Plan Get-Some.” We made our way across the map, in our 109G14’s, to Rally point silver (6/15 Kp 6.5) then moved north where we found some pony's over the port, which we saw blinking. SlipKnoT found one low, and the other four of us moved to engage. In a repeat of last week that 1 turned to 8 in a matter of thirty seconds. Slip was down in the weeds, and the remaining 7 appeared to come in from just below me - at 7 K – but they seemed to exhibit boundless energy. So, the fight that started 6V1 turned into 6V8, and they whittled us away, with no losses of their own, until only mace and I remained.
I had extended to the east, and spotted one lone guy. I watched him for a bit to make sure that he was alone, and then latched on to try and turn him for the kill. Well, I thought was alone, but he had a buddy that sprang up out of the ground like a spawning troll, and he whacked me from the sky before I could ever land a round. And then Mace was alone.

It seemed to be the theme for the night - line 'em up, and they dance right out of your sights. It was maddeningly frustrating.

Mace was 8V1 at this point, and performed a masterful ballet over the port. Surviving for another 15 minutes before the superior numbers overwhelmed him. But he got three before he went down.  My only regret was I didn't get to see it as I was in another tower trying to quietly come down from rage that these abrupt terminations of flight induce. But I heard all about it. I heard that it was awesome to watch, and that Mace had attracted a huge number in the port tower. They were hooting and hollering, and were all commenting on 150. By the time I got there it was over, so, that is a tale for someone else to tell.

I think I was the second 109 that came in and caused Texas20 to break off Modeus. I never got a shot on him but had a great time watching my squad mates chase him all over the deck until Atticus brought him down.  This last FSO frame was the most fun of the series for me because of that last fight. :salute

<S> To the P47 I chased on the deck from the city. I hit ya a few time causing you to leak fuel but I was down to 4 rounds and little gas. I was the 109G6. Did you make it home or ditch?

Texas <S>--great flying.  I'm the one who got the kill, but as you know, you were being hoarded by the Jolly Rogers.  Again great flying.   :salute

I slid in at the port after a fuel hit. Watched Mace for a long time battling all the 51s, was some great flying!

When the 51s started taking down the ack, he said he knew he was in trouble. :D
