Basic GV question:
Is it possible to (safely, without dieing) land a GV at a remote spawn point, or must there be no opponents alive within a certain distance?
-
Is it possible to (safely, without dieing) land a GV at a remote spawn point,
Yes, but the spawn point itself has no influence on this at all.
If you are in enemy territory, you can safely land your (undamaged) vehicle, if no enemy is present within a 6k(?) radius. Of course, you can rarely be absolutely sure there ain't an enemy tank hiding somwhere with engine off...
-
Also, if you are at your Vbase and you return to tower and you receive a ditched notice, then you know that there is an nme GV within 6K of you.

So Lusche,
If I understand you correctly, the logical consequence of this constraint is that when spawning a GV at a remote spawn point, you will usally fight until you die, as there is no way to return safely with live enemies within the 6K. (Unless of course you relish a 1-hour cross-country drive back to base).

Basically yes. When I spawn into enemy land, I consider myself already dead, in case of driving a perked tanks I write the perks off the moment I spawn ;)
Howver, have a few times I have reached safe landing distance by driving away from the enemy base in a completely unexpected direction, (enemy planes & gv tend to head towards the spawn area only.

I'm just the opposite.
I'll drive a smoking Whirble 30 min to make sure I am 6k from nme and land it.

That's not the opposite. That's exactly what I described in the part you didn't quote ;)

It doesnt take that long to drive 6k I land kills all the time off of concrete.
I land on concrete maybe 10% of the time.
-
I drive away from the spawn all the time to land, I always try to find the best direction for this as soon as I can, downhill if at all possible, to help expedite my escape. :neener:

I think HT once said the magic distance is 5.5K.

Make sure you didn't get ping by a plane that was marking you , if he is still alive he gets a kill.
