They look great, but having Obama on one of them i disagree. They should put Nixon or Johnson on there.

Yea put Washington back on the one dollar bill he was the first president he should be on one.

I thought this was going to be some political thing about Obama and I was ready to roll my eyes. Looking at it though, yeah, I agree. Regardless of your opinion of him, he has yet to cement his place in history.
However, IIRC, these designs have nothing to do with the U.S. Government, rather it someone else's opinion on it. They look cool, but it doesn't really matter to me anyway, I don't have any money! Not to mention that 95% of my transactions are with a debit card, I rarely see bills anymore.
-
Huff - Po ???
What are you doing in that cesspool ?
-
I saw that and I hate them. They look cheap and fake. I think the last one on that page would be alright but the colorful stuff gets a -1 from me.
If I wanted colorful money I would play monopoly.
-
If they put him on a bill i swear i will never use that bill...

why copy the euro? :headscratch: :furious

It looks like monoply money :neener: no, it looks worse.

Agreed. Of all of the men who have actually done things for this country, i.e. men like Roosevelt, we would put a guy who has not even served a single term in office yet, nor done anything particularly outstanding...
-
i don't like it :furious
-
they look like crap to be honest.......and i think we really can't afford to be spending MORE money we don't have to redesign our money, then spend EVEN MORE money we don't have to re-tool to make this new redesigned money.
-
All I can say is that this must not be allowed to happen. This nation was built on a firm foundation; however, this type of corrosion will be able to take a big chunk out of the rock we're standing on.
My thoughts. I stand by them.

I would love to see this.

They JUST redid the damn money not to long ago. It looks fine. Leave it the hell alone.
But if they did redo it I prefer this one

ditto
Only make subtle changes to it to combat forgery.
Redesigning it like the euro will only makes it political.
-
oh Btw isn't it illegal to put a living president on a currency?
-
Hm. For some reason, I don't think these designs are legit. I don't see how the bills are "in need of a make-over".
-
Wow those look like utter garbage.
Greenbacks are fine the way they are.
-
They should do one symbolic from WWII. Flag of Iow Jima or Normandy Invasion

Can't wait to pull out a wad of pink backs.

For each Federal Reserve Note there is gold in the Reserves to re-place that bill :uhoh Suppose to be anyways
Give obama the spot for 1 cent that's giving him to much credit but he is the first colored president so let him have it.

Negative...FDR, the second greatest attack on wealth and capitalism in the nations history saw to that...
The irony of proposing him as the face of the 100 dollar bill is laughable beyond belief..
Keep your powder dry...and your gold buried...

Just so every one is aware...
The guy who put this "Redesigning The Dollar" thing together is a 'chicque-ie' boutique re-branding consultant in Manhattan and has nothing at all to do with what the Treasury is doing...he has a long track record of donating to left wing efforts...candidates and parties...
Which explains why "In God We Trust" appears nowhere in any of the submissions...and also explains why Obama ended up on the 1 dollar bill and FDR ended up on the 100 dollar bill...and also explains why the winner of his fake contest wasn't even a United States citizen but a Brit...globalist nonsense...
The guy is a crank...and this is nothing more than a publicity stunt to gin up interest in his "Re-Branding" business...
But its certainly 'Tony' in Manhattan and makes for excellent and welcomed copy in the New Yorker, Grey Lady and Economist...not to mention the cesspool otherwise known as the Huffington Post..

I like the concept of the vertical bills. It makes SO much sense.
The design I care less about. I do agree putting obama on a bill is insulting to the money itself. The founding fathers and the major achievements of the nation should be on the bills not a media-hyped president.
The image along with the quote is just perfect. It fully represents the nation and its ideals when read to anyone not from the US.
In fact, if it were me i'd make the bills be varied per bill type. That is, assign each bill denomination a theme and print different variations of it.. just like there are different Quarter coins, one per state.
$1 bill: Founding Fathers (self explanatory)
$5 bill: National Monuments (white house, etc)
$10 bill: Images of the Nation (landscapes)
$20 bill: Notable Americans (historic..aka Martin Luther King JR,Einstein,Tesla,JFK,R.Waldo Emerson,Native american notables, etc)
$50 bill: Achievements of the Nation (Independence,Emancipation, moon landing,First in Flight, breaking the sound barrier, etc)
$100 bill: United States (one bill per state, each bill showing its location in the US)

I think Obama is trying to start another revolution. He continues to do things the American people doesn't like, and it's with a purpose.
-
Not an Obama fan personally, but he has made history being the first black president so he does have a place.
he will cement his place in history when he finishes making the US into the very enemy so many of our veterans fought against many many years ago.
-
Guys! Seriously! STFU with the politics! These are NOT actual designs being considered by the federal reserve so get you panties out of a bunch!
If you want to suggest who you think should be on a bill, then fine... but keep your comments to yourself about who you think should NOT be on a bill. This is pretty cool looking stuff and I'd hate to see this thread get locked because some people can't keep their crap together.
On topic... I would like to see the size of the bills change with their value... so you could tell them apart by feel. I've done quite a bit of work with blind veterans, and one of their most common complaints has been having to trust other people to be honest when they are paying for something. Lots of the guys wanted different sized bills so they could tell them apart... I thought that was a pretty cool idea.

Our bills have Brail dots on them for the visual impaired.
Nice thing about coloured bills is that in a dark bar one knows what one is giving to the bar tender.
-
oh Btw isn't it illegal to put a living president on a currency?
Yes, it is against federal law to put any living president on any currency.
The only living American president to appear on any currency was CSA president Jefferson Davis, which even then caused controversy.

The Australian currency changes more than Julia Gillard changes her knickers. Just as you get used to what everything is they go and change it on you.

Be wary of future euro-style designs for the Almighty dollar
The moment we go full blown euro-style I'm sure references to god will be removed

In Australia it's pretty handy having different colour notes, you never give the wrong amount of money, no mistakes are even made

In 1956, the nation was suffering through the height of the cold war, and the McCarthy communist witch hunt. Partly in reaction to these factors, the 84th Congress passed a joint resolution to replace the existing motto with "In God we Trust." The president signed the resolution into law on 1956-JUL-30. The change was partly motivated by a desire to differentiate between communism, which promotes Atheism, and Western capitalistic democracies, which were at least nominally Christian.

Yes.... nobody knows if he is the first black president. I'm sure out of all the other's there may have been another part black president.
The only historical part about obama in office is he is the first foreigner to hold the highest office.

muslim lol.
a recent poll showed that only a third of americans know what religion their president is. I find that strange, considering religion is such a big deal in the US. you'd think people would bother finding out what affiliation their own president has. overall 18% thought he was muslim (and 34% of republicans :o).
present company excepted of course, but your country is full of handsomehunkes.

Americans on the whole are far more diverse than many other countries.
That allows us to be more forgiving of different ethnic, religious, and political backgrounds of our politicians. Unfortunately, it also encourages a small minority of nuts to ostracize anyone who doesn't have opinions that match their own. They are a small minority and (except for rare circumstances) no one listens to those xenophobic nuts anyway.
