Title: Disappearing Aircraft
Post by: nrshida on September 19, 2010, 02:12:41 AM
About one in ten aircraft I shoot down simply 'wink out of existence', no explosion, no debris, no pilot-less plane flopping downwards, no sound they just disappear. Then I notice the message in the buffer.

If I recall correctly this also happened before the new damage model.

Is this a known bug or perhaps something to do with my graphic settings?

Total particle reversal. It's the uber awesomeness of the Ki-84 that makes your enemy implode on a molecular level.

How do you know that I mostly fly the Ki-84?  :noid

Also happened with a Bf109G-14 (30 mm only) and yesterday with a Spitfire Mark IX twice.

Happened to me tonight but I've seen it a lot. Does it seem like it only happens in a large furball?

Not only a large furball, happened twice 1 on 1 that I remember distinctly with no one else around. Can't be tracers, been turning those on and off lately. Wonder if it's specific plane types. Brewster and G-14 at least have departed this virtual world with not even a whimper.

I've seen that more than a few times.  Really is a letdown to see a Spit XVI just vanish instead of break into tiny pieces.  :(

edited after coffee kicked in.

Alright Bullet, how's you, me old cocker?

Ah graphics settings, I'll take a look. Weird that I mostly get an explosion though. Not too much to ask for after a decent fight, as Caldera says, lol.

Pretty sure now that it is when you hit the fuel tank.

I have an overkill computer for this game and it happens to me nothing to do with the computer performance.  It has to do with the unreliable-ness and magic of the internet.

This happens all the time to me, seems when if I land a 30mm near the cockpit, they either do the normal pilot wound instant death, or just simply disappear.  Not usually a bother unless it's a high angle snap shot, and I think I lost sight of them when I come around.  Then I fly like a maniac trying to pick the visual back up until I notice the kill in the text buffer.

I think Dr_Death8's explanation makes perfect sense. That happens to me too Warhed, instead of a nice boom you get 12 seconds of frantic searching, lol. Just have to learn to shoot the wings off instead.

Don't panic BiPoLaR, 'me old cocker' is an old fashioned English expression for mate or friend (buddy, in American) which may either originate from 'alright me old Cock Sparrow' or 'alright me old Cockney Sparrow' and / or the similar expressions arising from a famous mathematics text book written by Edward Cocker, resulting in 'according to Cocker', and the expression 'Cock on'. No one really knows for sure.

The expression fell out of favour in the 1950s, but Bullet lives in Scotland and it's still the 1950s up there  :bolt:

Happens all the time and I have all settings maxed...Pretty sure  what you're seeing is some one simply typing "  .ef "   No parts, no BOOM, just a message!       :old:  :neener:     elfy

Squad members have come and gone but if you find one of the MOL online
ask to see if they'll sell you one of their extra "rings of invisibility."

Be forewarned.  They aint cheap
